Windows 7 display question

I just installed Windows 7, but when any of my windows are maximized, the right side scroll bars are off the screen. I only have two resolution options, 800x600 and 1024x768 (which I am using. On the screen resolution control panel, there is an item called “Display” with a value of 1.565, but I can’t change that number.

Any thoughts on how to make the entire window fit on my monitor when it is maximized?

the driver for your graphics card is not installed.

Looks that way, try running Windows Update to see if it picks up the right driver, if not you might have to install it manually.

The easiest way I found to install the driver manually was to use a program called HWInfo, which will identify every piece of hardware on your computer. It will list your graphics card. Then all you have to do is google for the driver for that card, or go to the manufacturer’s website and use their search feature. Run setup, restart when asked, and you are golden.

Is this a monitor where you have ability to adjust area that raster is displayed (like a CRT-type monitor)? Some monitors can be adjusted by software (or upon monitor itself sometimes) so that whole raster is moved as a ‘unit’ or can adjusted (stretched/compressed) to fit the actual display screen. I plead ignorance as to whether LCD (or similar) monitors need this type adjusting as they do not use ‘beams’ that are adjustable, per se. I suspect such functions are not needed for ‘panel-type’ monitors.

Very likely its your drivers or similar, but sometimes its just a matter of using software to adjust the beam to size/center of monitor’s display area. I can’t tell ya right now where to find the adjusting-app portion of video-card/Win7, but it is likely not too hard to find. And I could be off-target here if the monitor does not use such adjusting features…

I feel very, very dumb. After a good long time of tracking down the most updated drivers, I finally was told to try hitting the “auto” button on my monitor. I though it only did color adjustments, but it fixed the whole thing.

Thanks, everyone!
