windows explorer default view set and an outlook problem

How do I set the view to details (as opposed to list, small icon, large icon) so that this is the default file list view on my computer? I’m working with windows 98.

While I’m at it, I’m having trouble formatting emails with outlook. Word 2000 is the editor that outlook uses. Anyone know of a good tutorial for this that gives a good short list of pitfalls and the solutions?

Set the view to Details, then go to Tools|Folder Options|View and click the Like Current Folder button.

Everything I’ve read recommends disabling Word as the email editor. It tends to cause problems.
