I use intel proset wireless for my connection but windows has an icon in the system tray trying to get in IP address. When i try to open it the wireless conection box comes up saying windows cannot configure because another program is the manager (intel proset wireless). then why is it trying to get an IP? if i already have one and am online? And to top it off it eventually does get an ip that matches waht my intel program has assigned to me
Control Panel
/Network Connections
/Wireless Network Connections icon
/Properties
/Wireless Networks tab
/“Use Windows to configure…” check box - - uncheck
No sorry i cant do that because windows tells me another program is controling the wireless.
I have an IP adress and can go online but windows still looks for one…
What part of Will Repair’s suggestion can’t you do?
Why do you need the Intel program to find and connect to the wireless? If you uninstall it, you can then just let Windows take over the wireless management and it will do fine, since it will be the one getting an IP address and won’t be conflicting with anything.
Windows is all greyed out because that box is not checked. The Intel takes over. I use the Intel one because it has pre login connection and it seems to be faster then the regular windows one and has more options.
