Windows Media Player 11 Problem

I’ve been using WMP 11 for a few months now with no problems, and although some poeple might come in here and start to trash it, it’s actually a pretty good program IMO. Until now.

All of a sudden it has lost all my files and won’t even allow me to add any, but for some reason WMP 11 on my partner’s login is unaffected.

Does anyone have the complete idiot’s guide of how to fix this? I’ve had a look on the web, but the instructions I’ve found aren’t exactly intuitive. We are running XP.

Thanks in advance.

DAMN DRM :smack:

It would be nice to blame DRM, but it seems to have nothing to do with it.

See the section How can I create a new library?.

If you have any further problems, let me know.

Thanks for your help.

I managed to find a different fix through google groups. By deleting the media player folder in the application data directory, then restarting WMP, it rebuilt the library.

If I may hijack this for a moment, I’ve noticed that WMP11 continues to play the audio after I x-close the player without actually hitting the stop button first. Is this some kind of bug? Is there a way to stop that from happening? It’s kind of annoying to close WMP, and then have to re-open the player just to hit stop and close it again.
