So, I prepared a video (from camcorder footage) using Windows Movie Maker 2 and burned the same to a CD-ROM. When I view the film burned on to the CD on my home computer, it all looks great. However, when I go to play it on another computer, only the audio is displayed.
The video information is clearly there, but is just not getting picked up. Any thoughts? I tried it on my sister-in-law’s computer and on my office computer with the same results.
The other computers are probably missing a codec. Can they view the samples on Microsoft’s site? If not, and assuming your clips are in the same format, you’ll need the Windows Media 9 codecs or Windows Media Player 9. I recommend the former. I still use WMP 6.4.
Well, the codecs don’t seem to fix it, at least not at the office.
I’ve got Windows Media Player 7 at the office. I’m leery of downloading 9 onto an office computer. We’re running 98, and I’m not 100% sure if we’re running first or second edition.
sigh Thanks for the tips, neutron star. I’ll have to test the Media Player 9 theory somehow. Anyone else have any thoughts?
