Windows XP–Dialogue boxes cut off

OK,

I only recently just updated my Windows XP to Service Pack 1. The update went fairly smoothly except for one odd caveat: Pop-up dialogue windows (like those during installation processes) get cut off at the right. The boxes are of fixed size, I cannot stretch them further to the right or anything. If the text runs outside the box, there’s nothing I can do to see it.

This posed a bit of a problem with service agreements when I reinstalled Adobe Premiere (for some reason, the registration information was lost in the upgrade and required a reinstall.) Not only could I not see half of the information on the screen, but when I scrolled down to click on the “I Accept” button, the button itself was nonresponsive (and disappeared, IIRC.) Eventually, I got around all the problems by simply hitting “Enter.”

Has anyone experienced this problem and have any idea what I can do to remedy it?

Try this:

Right-click the Desktop and select Properties from the menu. Click the Appearance Tab, and then click the Advanced button. Select Message Box from the dropdown list of items, then selct the desired font and font size from the options below that. Try going down a font size or two and see if that helps.

It’s probably not a reslolution problem, but just to make sure and eliminate it from the investigation what resolution is your screen set at? (right click on your desktop, click properties, then click settings. In the bottom right of the screen should be your resolution)

Hmmm…now I gotta remember where else I’ve encountered this problem other than installation procedures to see if any of these fixes work.
