Windows XP problems with Internet Explorer...HELP!

When I use Internet Explorer on my home computer (XP home edition), it works just fine and I close the window. But if I check the processes that are running on my computer I still have IEXPLORER.EXE running. This also happens if I open multiple browser windows, I will have multiple instances of IEXPLORER.EXE in my processes hours after having closed the browser(s).

What is causing this? How do I put a stop to it?

The process should be named iexplore.exe, not iexplorer.

Have you scanned your system with updated versions of Spybot S&D and Ad-aware? There may be malware which is keeping IE from closing correctly.
