We got very little. Today is beautiful and sunny, not quite as cold (33F) and the snow we did get is rapidly disappearing. I am so glad that was it…everything is back to “normal” and there won’t be any school closings or bad roads to worry about.
I have a two-hour work delay tomorrow!
We ended up with about 7-8 inches here in Central NC. No school for the kiddies tommorow. Black ice will be a problem in the morning. I will be under the covers. Drive like you have some sense.
I spent the day watching people slide down the road that we can see through our back window. No school tomorrow here, either, but my husband has to be at work by 9. He’s planning on leaving at 7. He works four miles from our house. I think he’ll make it :).
On Sunday, skidded down Dad’s driveway. At the bottom of the hill, got stuck in snow/mud/ice on Dad’s lawn.
Had to get towed out.
We got somewhere between 10 and 12" total. It was very light and dry, so it didn’t take as long as last time to shovel out. And yesterday was very sunny, so most of the roads dried, although part of my neighborhood is mainly shady - getting to the main drag could be a challenge.
We don’t have to report to work till 9. I normally start before 6:30. I’m getting 2.5 hours free this morning. And they’re just about up - time to shower and dress. Incidentally, today’s temp bottomed at 8°F. That’s wrong on so many levels. And they’re threatening more snow by the end of the week.
The two-hour delay did nothing for the roads. The ‘older’ highways (I guess they’re secondary roads now?) were pretty bad, especially since I had some idiot in a Ford sedan tailgating me all the way to Zebulon. Nash County’s roads were the worst though – I don’t think they even bothered to scrape. The parking lot at work is solid ice in some places.
My little corner of the world in SW MO ended up with about 6 inches. I drove to KC on Sunday afternoon and the snow gradually got less & less, until about 20 miles south of the KC city limits, where there was basically none.
Roads are pretty good, as we only had a little sleet before the snow. Just looking forward to Spring now. Started getting in the mood for warmer weather when I noticed the daffodils starting to sprout up out of the ground last week.
Okay, I’ve entered the throes of cabin fever. School is canceled again tomorrow. All this stuff that turned into slush today is going to freeze overnight, then we’re supposed to get freezing rain from 6-10 a.m. When I told my son there was no school, he sighed and did a little sagging shoulder thing. I’m not going to even think about the weatherman saying we are getting more snow on Friday!
Today, we had freezing fog.
Everything covered in ice.
Are you near Chattanooga?
A friend of my Father’s, a union rep, told me about driving through fog so thick that he walked beside the car steering it.
There was a Civil War battle as I recall, “The Battle Above the Clouds.”
Beautiful country when I drove through it several years ago.
