Wintergreen Toothpaste - HELP!

you may want to crush some Wint-O-Green Lifesavers and mix them in with your regular toothpaste…

Mixing a sugary candy with toothpaste seems a little counterproductive.

I wonder how many Lifesavers would be needed to give you a toothpaste that actually causes cavities…

Mmmm… Lifesavers…

Esprix

I dunno. It just might be a conspiracy amongst American dentists to attract more people into their office with dental problems… or the toothpaste companies are just plain evil and profit driven here and not as much in Canada.

not gonna coment, not gonna comment NOT GONNA SAY IT!

Ah hell yes I am… ummm VANILLA?

Oh am I gonna be in trouble now…

O.K., I said almost sure.

Here’s the skinny:

Colgate Winterfresh (Menthe Fraîche) DIN 01939742, light green paste, sodium monoflourophosphate 0.76% w/w made by Colgate-Palmolive Toronto, Canada M46 2H6 (Questions? 1-800-268-6757) is definitely what you’re looking for.

The Crest mentioned as a possible (Icy Clean Mint Paste) DIN 02019523, light blue paste, sodium fluoride 0.243% w/w, although it has light green on the box is edging towards the peppermint end of the spectrum. Not wintergreen.

A mellower version is Crest Complete Clean Mint Paste (Pâte Menthe Vive) DIN 02239618, a white paste with more medicinal and non-medicinal ingredients than you can shake a stick at, including sodium fluoride 0.243% w/w, tetrasodium pyrophosphate 2.16% w/w, tetrapotassium pyrophosphate 4.42% w/w sodium acid pyrophosphate 1.65% w/w, PEG-6 and titanium dioxide. Not wintergreen but not too harsh either. Proctor and Gamble Toronto, Ontario M5W 1C5 (Questions? 1-800-668-0152)

Aquafresh Freshmint DIN 02239435, sodium fluoride 0.243% imported (in Canada) by SmithKline Beecham Oakville, Ontario L6H 5V2, not winterfresh. Cool stripes though.

Sensodyne-F Mint DIN 02232757, potassium nitrate 5%, sodium fluoride 0.232% kinda minty and lemony at the same time. Block Drug Company, Mississauga, Ontario L5N 6L6.

These are all recognized by the Canadian Dental Association (Yup, sure enough, that’s toothpaste alright…).
On a completely unrelated note, tau Marin toothpaste gel Traditional Blend made in Pomezia, Italy by Avantgarde S.p.A. has, among other things, spearmint oil, peppermint, witch hazel, sea algae, myrrh, cloves, lemon juice and cinnamon. It has the consistency of grampa’s liniment and tastes like pine tar and bad shellfish.

Happy dental hygiene everyone!

eunoia, I am astounded and awed by your toothpaste knowledge. How did you learn such wise and wondrous things?

 <--------don’t even get me started on white crème de menthe vs. green crème de menthe or G*d forbid, floss

Toothpaste! the new SDMB reality show. Only one can become the new toothpaste for Esprix.

For those of you playing at home, here’s a recap of suggestions:[ul][li]Tom’s of Maine – World Eater, pendgwen[/li][li]Pepsodent – essvee, EchoKitty[/li][li]Colgate Winterfresh Gel – poysyn, eunoia[/li][li]Rembrandt – chukhung[/ul] Which one will Esprix choose? Stay tuned to find out which toothpastes advance and which get spit out and rinsed down the drain! Don’t miss a minute of the exciting dentifrice action![/li]

(Go Rembrandt!)

Yer a freak.

I like you.

Esprix, with clean teeth

Okay, here you go.

I use “Rembrandt Plus” peroxide Gel, Wintergreen flavour. It’s in a big white tube with a flip-cap, and a kind of bluish-green coloured writing on it. It smells just like Wintergreen Lifesavers. And if you use it consistently it really does whiten your teeth.

I got the bigass-size tube at WalMart for about $6.99.

you do floss, yes?

This is what finally replaces the “Ask the Gay Guy” links in Esprix’s sig?!

Just want to add my vote for the Tom’s of Maine suggestions. At first the flavor was different than what I was used to, almost less sugary, but now I think it’s delicious! It will fulfill all of your taste and healthy teeth needs.

[sup]Plus, it has no saccharine, dyes, or preservatives, and they tell you where every ingredient comes from. Now that’s an informative toothpaste![/sup]

Good luck! (Also comes in Fluoride free)

I did get responses back from several toothpaste manufacturers, echoing some of the suggestions here. Now I have to wait until my current tube runs out - then I’ll bump this thread again with my findings. :stuck_out_tongue:

Esprix

I hate spearmint and peppermint, but love wintergreen, just like you.

I don’t know if it’s “wintergreen flavor” or not–never really thought about it–but I brush with Crest Multi-Care (the green mint flavor). I think it’s called “Cool Mint”, but I go by the color, not the name.

It’s pretty good and it has both fluoride and baking soda in it.

I said no such thing! Gel is the bane of those who are serious about dental hygiene. It’s all foam and no clean. If you won’t take this with the seriousness it deserves, why post? What’s wrong with you people?

Just to throw out another option… I was trolling the Dollar Tree the other day and came across Colgate Herbal. (I believe it’s made in the US for export and isn’t available in “regular” stores. All the package info listed customer service numbers in Africa!!!) Anyways, it’s flavored with Eucalyptus, Sage, Myrrh and Chammomile. Mmmmmm. It’s pretty yummy (sorta like brushing your teeth with a cough drop), and the price was certainly right!

Let me take this opportunity to publicly apologize to eunoia for mistakenly suggesting that he or she had advocated the use of a gel toothpaste. I had read eunoia’s postings in haste and was extremely sloppy in lumping his or her suggestion for a Colgate toothpaste with poysyn’s.

I am sorry for the confusion that I have caused by my carelessness. Please forgive me.

That being said, let me reiterate my firm position on this matter:

GO REMBRANDT!

C’mon, Esprix, buy a new tube of toothpaste already! The suspense is killing us. We’re dying here…

what? what’s wrong with vanilla? i personally never unstood the lack of anything besides *mint flavored toothpaste anyway, (except kids’ toothpaste which doesn’t have as much flouride).

anyone remember bugs bunny toothpaste? god, that was the best ever!!!

(mints make me sneeze)
