best tasting toothpaste

I use novamin remineralization toothpaste, which really doesn’t have a flavor. But I am only brushing 1x a day. So I figure if I want to brush 2x a day I need a good tasting toothpaste so I actually want to brush with it.

I have heard crest vanilla mint is extremely good, but I haven’t found it in the local stores. Crest cinnamon is decent though, and that was in stores.

So what are other people’s favorite flavored/tasting flouride toothpastes?

Tom’s of Maine

Not as sweet and cleaner tasting than most.

Not only that, their peppermint flavor is the only toothpaste I’ve ever used that doesn’t leave you waking up with a foul taste in your mouth.

I really like Aim, and also Crest cinnamon which you mentioned is good.
I used to use Tom’s of Maine, but I got sick of it really quickly. The flavors weren’t as bold, and it left me with a weird after-taste.

I like Pepsodent. Mmmm wintergreeny.

Close Up (red gel) tastes clean and fresh.
They don’t seem to do much marketing anymore, so you can usually buy it cheaply in major chain stores.

Crest with baking soda and peroxide.

I don’t think they make Crest Vanilla Mint anymore, to my annoyance. I love the stuff, and I’m finally running out of my stash. Can’t find it anymore.

They do have the best tasting mint-flavored toothpastes by far, but even those pale in comparison to their fennel toothpaste.

Alice.com still has some in stock.

I can’t abide anything that isn’t purely minty. It feels like brushing my teeth with candy, and grosses me out.

That said, I don’t brush three times a day because I just can’t get enough of that tasty, tasty toothpaste. I do it because I enjoy having teeth.

Colgate with baking soda.

Another vote for Tom’s of Maine. The spearmint flavor Tom’s toothpaste is the only one I’ve tried that doesn’t make me want to vomit in the mornings.

I don’t have a problem with any toothpaste taste. I brush with pure baking soda half the time anyway. However, if you want good really good tasting, some kids toothpaste tastes like candy if if you into that type of thing. I use my daughters’ toothpaste sometimes and I don’t remember the exact type but it tastes like bubblegum flavor.

If you want a more adult version, the web has rankings for everything. I haven’t tried it but CREST Toothpaste White Expression Vanilla Mint is supposed to be really good. Here are the others.

I can only remember ever using Crest, Colgate, and Aquafresh, so make of this what you will:

Aquafresh is by far the best. Not the tartar control formula, but the original flavor. The others are just too minty for me, but original Aquafresh gets it just right. The red and aqua stripes in Aquafresh are pretty awesome also. It was a big deal for me when they added the red stripes in the early '80s.

I like original crest. It’s the cheapest and my favorite flavour. That or Pepsodent, though I haven’t seen Pepsodent since I was five.

I’m working on a bottle ([?], it is not what I would call a “tube”) of Colgate Pop Stars, with Star Breath Strips mild mint fluoride toothpaste. It is pretty good though I must have misplaced the strips, or maybe that is why it was discounted at the store.

I also recommend Tom’s of Maine. The “no artificial sweeteners” thing makes a huge difference for me. Try it for a week or so if you give it a go, because it takes a while to get past the expectation of artificial sweeteners and it’ll be funky at first.

One day I was buying toothpaste and I said screwit, I’m going to buy some kids tooth paste. Never went back to the adult stuff.
