Sometimes there are funny ones. I read a message board where a lot of these memes start, so I’ve seen a billion and one image macros. While the format itself (silly picture + caption in capital letters) is a bit tired, it’s flexible enough to produce entertaining material not infrequently. The ‘I has a bucket’ elephant seal is a good example.
I think he’s just tired of people who say, “What’s that thing on your face?” all the time. He’s a weary cat.

I’m with those who find lolcats to be funnier than they should be, despite a general loathing for leet-speak/bad grammar. Just yesterday a friend of mine posted a funny (and original) lolcats-related photo on his LiveJournal, and I have his permission to post a link to the entry:

Some of the lolCats are dumb as hell but there’s a goodly number of them that make me laugh till I’m almost sick. The computer ones (especially the “Hi! I’m from Tech Support!”) are faves in my house.

Some of them make me grin, but the one that I laughed myself silly over (then passed on to my daughter) was LOLcky Horror Picture Show. My daughter and I are now prone to the occasional expletive “Surprize Buttsecks!” and a burst of idiotic giggles.

oh, I laugh like an idiot at those stupid things. not ALL of them, mind you, but some of them I just cannot help myself. the first time I saw the “LET ME SHOW YOU MY POKEMANS” thing I swear I was incoherent for freakin’ hours.
after that one, my favorite is the lolrus series. (starts on page 3; work your way backwards)
I do get annoyed at the ones that try too hard or have too much misspelled text. short and sweet is key.

Me too. I even bought the buttons from cheezburger, so the whole world can know I like things that are kind of stupid. I know, that’s what’s wrong with America today.
I knew it would be Macaroni Feet Parakeet! I have that one in my photobooth, too. 
After flipping through this thread, I am now bored with cats. If I see another lol-cat again, I will end up like this .
Both my daughter and I love them, and are mutually mortified by this. And now we send text messages in lolcat-speak to one another…
We’ll both probably get over them pretty soon, but right now they’re cracking us up.
