With Prof. Bricker's Time Machine and a DVR, What Would You Record?

There’s a few things I’m curious about seeing/hearing:

Do we have the original recording of that War of the Worlds broadcast that drove people crazy? That would be interesting to listen to

I also want to see the footage of Steve Irwin getting killed by that stingray. Just morbid curiosity I guess

There were these cartoons on during the 90’s that were, in my mind, excellent. Shame they got canceled. One was called Exo-Squad and the other was Battletech. I would love to own these on DVD but I think Exo-Squad only came out on VHS

A few overpriced VHS (!?!) episodes of this are available- PTUI!

I want reasonably priced DVDs of the Paulist Productions INSIGHT- the syndicated (late Sunday night in my area) well-written, well-acted “Catholic Twilight Zone”.

The first season of Exosquad is out on DVD, now, so that leaves only about…forty episodes to go. Better ‘an nothin’.

Several things that I’d like to see again, but aren’t on DVD, nor are they likely to come out on DVD:

  • Marc Summers Mystery Magical special
  • Pasadena, staring Alison Lohman, Dana Delany & Balthazar Getty
  • The Random Years, staring Will Friedle
  • All Souls, a short-lived haunted hospital drama
  • 24/seven
  • Being Eve
  • Hardcore TV, which was a collection of dirty spoofs of various shows & commericals like This Old House, Masterpiece Theater, and David Attenborough’s documentaries.

A cartoon from my youth Skyhawks. I was really into aviation as a kid and this gem was an entire show about nothing but airplanes, heaven on earth.

Yes. You can find it at www.mercurytheatre.info.

My kids had a CD-ROM interactive storybook about Exo-Squad, which included a couple of episodes’s worth of the cartoon, plus a “design your own exo-suit” activity (which may have been set up so that you earned pieces of exo-suit by correctly answering comprehension questions in the storybook sections).

I’m going to scour the interwebz for my Exo-Squad DVD! And threaten the studios until they put the rest of it on DVD!

I’m sure these next shows exist on tape somewhere, but apparently they were so bad no one has ever heard about them except me.

Kelsey Grammar had a sketch show, called “Sketch Show by Kelsey Grammar” or something, that ran for, I think, 3 or 4 episodes. It had Chloe from 24 in it. From what I saw, it was hilarious, but I’m sure everyone involved has disavowed that they were ever part of it to begin with. I want that show, I want to force them to make 5 seasons of it

Also, back to the later 80’s/early 90’s there was a couple of shows that I think I’m the only person who has ever watched it. One was a weird SNL-type sketch show called Haywire. One of the recurring characters was this crazy asian martial artist called Billy Kwan who would fly off into a rage and drop kick people. I loved that show

The other was called something like Danger Man, or Danger Joe, or Joe Danger, and it was a half hour comedy show, not a sitcom, just a 30 min show about a crazy guy that gets into dangerous situations. It had potential!! But it was sadly also canceled :frowning:

A lot of the cartoons that are no longer politically correct haven’t been released on these collections. I suspect I would find a lot of those distasteful, but I know of at least one I really, really want. Ergo, the wish for complete. Not sure if the collections edit the violence or not; I know the broadcast versions have.

If you’re talking about the Disney ones, they have been released and are complete. Not sure about the Warners ones, though

Well, there was this one time at band camp …

Warners. I’m thinking in particular of a cartoon with a little Native American oil millionaire who wants to hunt a moose, and his ever so correct English butler.

Props on the UCB reference.
