With the Trump administration lying so baldly and shamelessly, how do we handle national security?

What if we get hit by another terror attack and the administration says ‘the terrorists have ties to Iran’ or something like that?

This administration has 0 credibility, they’ve wasted that on petty shit. What are we supposed to do when national security issues come up?

We can’t trust them to be honest about who the threats are or how to deal with them, because we can’t trust them period.

So what do we do?

We can still have a little faith in what is announced by the House and Senate Intelligence Committees, and, while perhaps a bit less, in what is announced by the intelligence agencies’ official statements.

The (proposed) Secretary of Defense, too, seems like a straightforward chap, and doesn’t look to have much truck with lying.

Duct tape?

Yeah, fortunately there’s more to our government than one guy and his inner circle. We have some people in the administration who are credible, as well as in Congress and outside experts.

I wouldn’t put TOO much faith in Gen. Mattis and Kelly though. Even well meaning people can be bamboozled into selling an administration line. Remember what happened to Colin Powell?
