Not quite the same, but in Motorola’s original line of linear ICs, they had two buffer-amplifiers. One was very fast-responding, while the other was substantially faster than anything else commercially available. They were listed, by name, as the** Fast Buffer Amplifier** and the Damn Fast Buffer Amplifier. Furthermore, the latter’s data sheet, entirely in English, had a warning paragraph headed *Achtung!
*Conclusion: it’s nothing new that engineers need to get out more often.
One of the more interesting stories I’ve seen was about the switch that selected between “Magic” and “More Magic.”
I like the story about the section of wing with minor damage (and a temporary repair) with a handwritten note on it that said, “We know about this.”
I used “Achtung” when taking notes in law school. If only I’d been better at math…
Love smart-aleck answers and engineers are the best at it. I used to deliberately use the restrooms in the Aeronautics building in college because they had the best grafitti.
E.g., “My mother made me a lesbian.”
Written underneath “If I buy the material, will she make me one too?”
The lab is our natural environment. We don’t thrive well in locations that involve strange things like sunlight or other human beings.
