I get what is required but even at an average of 5 per visit I’d have to spend 20 min hanging out in that parking lot and not playing the game besides visiting inns. That seems unreasonable.
I hope the game was just glitching, but I walked half a mile today without coming across a single thing. No greenhouse, no honeywater, no unicorn that was confounded. Nada. I saw stuff earlier in the day. I’m not going to rage quit, but my neighborhood isn’t in the boonies and my city has 60k people in it. I should find something, even if it’s not a good thing. I know the bugs in the other games I play, so I don’t know if this is just a bug or now I’m in a desert.
I’ve been seeing a dramatic reduction in stuff too. It’s not quite nothing, but it’s comparatively scarce. Haven’t gone to look for inns or greenhouses while at work, but usually there’s a regular supply of foundables in and around my office/lunch spots but it’s slim pickins today.
I have reached Level 6 which is where the real game starts I think. So far I rather like it and I think I will continue for at least a few weeks. Certainly the character progression and increasing complexity of the combat gives the game more depth than Ingress. Taking a whole fortress solo seems an interesting challenge. I continue to be struck by the visual polish and detail of the game. Probably I will get bored of the confoundable animations at some point but it hasn’t happened yet. At first I thought that swiping patterns to cast spells was rather lame but I admit it’s grown on me. It’s quite fun to try to improve the precision and speed of the swipes to get a higher score.
Fortunately I live in a dense area so I don’t have the problems that some of you have with spell energy. I think they should adjust the energy levels based on density so that inns give more energy where they are scarce. It should be easy enough for the software to automatically calculate the density of inns/greenhouses in each place.
It does somewhat. Green-roofed inns are supposed to give you more energy per food than blue-roofed.
What about black inns? I saw one today but did not visit. Was the first inn that color that I’d seen.
I can’t google this question because I keep getting related, but not what I need, answers.
I have a bunch of potions in my vault. But only one of them says “use” under it. All the rest say “info.” I’m up to level 8 or 9. Is it a level thing? I can use the Brain Elixir but can’t use the Exstimulo Potions. Or are they things I can only use when I’m in a fortress?
(When I google, I just get results on how to brew, but I have like 40 of the various ones and no idea HOW to use them or when. Just vague “improves your ____” info and not like “When you’re here tap this and swipe that.”)
In the vault you can only use the brain elixir which increases XP gained for 30 minutes
All the other potions are for use in specific situations like the extimulo potion is for when in a challenge or confronting a confoundable. In these situations you will see a potion icon at the bottom of your screen which if you tap will show you the potions you can use.
Potion use is not level limited.
Potion brewing is level limited.
Oh, ok thanks! All I could get by googling was the master codes to speed up potions.
I went for another walk around my block tonight and it was a desert again. So the other day when I saw nothing, I guess it wasn’t a fluke. It’s not a huge big deal but annoying. Also annoying is that I have six green houses and two fortresses at one park near me, and none at the other park and NO Inns at either. Since those two parks and my block are the three places I do 75% of my walking, it’s kind of a bummer. I know I should open and play when I’m like waiting in line at the grocery store or whatever, but I never remember to play when I’m not walking as exercise.
It never fails to astound me that despite playing daily, and going out of my way to find fortresses and whatnot, that more than half the people on my friend list are miles and miles past me!
Quite a few of them are level 25 already!
Unlocked my first portkey. Am I the only one who didn’t realize that you had to physically walk through it? I kept tapping on the screen and then had to watch a Youtube video to use it. Anyway a fun use of VR.
I finally found an Inn reasonably close to my house. I really needed it because I couldn’t even play most of yesterday and today because I had 3 lightning bolt spell power thingies. I don’t mind that there is a mechanic to limit your spell casting, but I don’t like how hard it is to refill. You only get more sometimes at greenhouses and the 10 or so you get from completing a daily challenge goes fast (like one foundable for me lately).
I hope they’re working out the kinks still, that they will balance things out better. If I literally can’t play the game, I can’t spend money on the game. I won’t spend money to play a free game even if I might eventually spend money on extras or premium stuff.
Right? I kept trying to use mine while I was laying in bed, and the game was just not having it!
Another thing I just realized is that the red dot is like a notification light and will point you to unfinished tasks. And it’s quite intelligent; if you earn some new scrolls and as a result there is a lesson that you can now unlock, it will be be marked with a dot.
A couple of thoughts:
-
I’m liking the story. It’s not earth shattering stuff, but the fact that there is a mystery and it gets revealed bit by bit is a step up. I’m getting bored by rescuing the same thing over and over, but the story will hopefully be interesting.
-
I like the special events. They are a real boost to progress. I suddenly had 45 scrolls this morning.
-
I of course now need to unlock a portkey to advance the special event and I just started a 7KM one. I hope I’m able to finish this special event. Last event had unlock 5 portkeys in the last task, which was impossible for me for lack of keys. I need green books!
Anyone still playing? I think I’m mostly getting the hang of it, but I still can’t figure out good strategies for fortresses (which floor, which level runestone, how many times, etc). And I live in an Inn desert. I drove through my town square and at a redlight, I saw dozens of them. But the rest of the city might as well be on the moon.
I’ve been reading a lot of people giving up because it’s buggy and unbalanced. I’m still new enough that I haven’t been too annoyed yet, but I could see a time where that would be the case.
My daughter started playing it, but she found she couldn’t use the portkeys due to a bug, so dropped it. Which is a shame as she liked it, and we could go out walking and I could get my pokemon and she could get her… whatever she got and everyone was happy.
I had kinda lost interest, but now that my kids are back in school, and the carpool waiting lane is accessible to an inn, a greenhouse, and a fortress, I’ve picked it back up again.
Best I’ve done so far is to beat a fortress on level 5.
My neighborhood still blows. I can hit one fortress in reasonable walking distance. All my good stuff keeps departing and I don’t always remember to dawdle draught. Or care to. I went to a couple malls and those are just chock full of everything you could possible want: emergency foundables, inns, greenhouses, fortresses. So it doesn’t seem much like an EXPLORING game as “visit our sponsored content” game.
Is it just me, or is the Slytherin Student kind of hot?
