I noticed my neighbor hadn’t taken in her mail so while I was near the mailboxes I brought hers over to her house like I do whenever I have spare time and I notice she hasn’t gotten her mail yet. After I set the mail on a chair on her porch I noticed a cat a few feet away, so I pet it. My neighbor came out and said hi, and asked me if I had seen her little cat named Opal yet. I just found it to be an interesting coincidence because:
- I doubt she’s ever been near a computer
- I was thinking of a thread opalcat had posted on at the time
- Hi opal!
Do you have fifteen of them like one of my friends does? (none of them are named Opal)

I love kitties too, Opal. I did an initial service for someone yesterday, and they had a big, fat ol’ gray cat named Fred. Fred was very affectionate, and followed me around while I did my inspection (the fact that I was giving him massive head-skritches was an inducement). And when I got down on all fours to inspect near a doorway, he rubbed his face up against mine, the way cats do. We touched noses.
Fred liked me.
So, upon greeting this animal, you have two options:
- Hello, cat!
- Who’s the sweetest kitty? Yes, who’s my snuggly-wuggly kitty-witty? Who’s my wovey-dovey kitty-baby?
- Hi, Opal!
Oh that’s so COOL!
Did you say, “Wow! I have a friend whose online screenname is OpalCat?”
You know, if we get another cat, maybe I’ll name it Opal…(Although I’m really leaning towards Ruby…)
I only have 4 cats
The most I’ve ever had at one time was 7.
