What “stance” would that be?
Being a cop is a dangerous job. So are a lot of jobs. So what?

I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

Shodan
The stance where you question if the cop really was being racist, or maybe just the person reporting the loud music was racist. You can most assuredly go back and read your comments in this thread alone to refresh your stance in your mind if need be.
Otherwise I will assume that we agree. The cops job IS dangerous, and a dangerous job usually involves the person taking on the danger to act accordingly (which some folks deem racist, or improper)
Looks like you are the one that is providing the memo here. If you feel that your cite is fully accurate, then you should be explaining to your friends in blue that their actions have consequences. Consequences that are usually going to be paid by their colleagues.
My stance is that the neighbor heard loud rap music, is afraid of black people, and called the cops.
My stance is that the person playing the music probably felt threatened, due to the numerous stories that show how regular black citizens are being hassled by the police. If a cop can feel threatened by a black kid with a cell phone, why can’t a woman feel threatened by a person with a real, actual gun right there within sight?
Doesn’t seem that controversial to me.
Shut up BigTard.
You know, I find it funny that you, and those like you only want to blame the police, not anyone else for their own actions that maybe, might, have contributed to the rise in the police state and resulting methodology that the police are now using to “stay safe”
I would tread very carefully in life if my name was k9bfriender and I spoke such things. You go back and explain to your friends that their actions have consequences first
Perhaps it’s the amount of guns that are in the hands of individuals and the ease with which these guns can be gotten?
And that ladies and gentlemen, is a perfect example of strawmanning. We should thank Kearsen for giving us such an obvious example.
You really think the police being called out for their abuses is the cause of their abuses? That’s pretty fucking stupid, bub.
They have been abusive for a long time, it is only now, with the advent of ubiquitous cameras, that they are being caught.
In your preferred days, the police would beat someone down, and then simply write it up as them resisting arrest. These days, there is video that contradicts the officer’s lies. It takes a real fuckwit with a desire for a police state to blame the fact that cops are being caught, rather than blaming the cops who are abusing their power.
Myself and my friends are all aware that actions have consequences. We are not cops who get to act with impunity while being cheered on by lickspittles like yourself. I deal with aggressive dogs rather often. It requires extreme care not to set them off or to trigger any of their violent responses. I treat cops the same way. The difference is, you can train a dog to stop being aggressive.
Do you want the wrath of the Lord upon you?
It says right in Job 4 8-10:
I have no doubt that there has been abuse of police power. We have seen it up close, some of us first hand. THIS particular one that you want to hang your hat on though brings up a MEH, on my meter. But you keep droning on about racism being the cause of some dumb ass playing music too loud and getting the police called on her. The fact that she is black seems to give her the balls to write about racism it in the paper? Goodie? That doesn’t change the fact that other than a very small sample of the posters here (this awfully liberal board) ,agrees with you. That ought to say something, to you.
And yes I do blame YOU and those like you that instead of fighting the actual fight, you fight made up ones that hurt your cause in the long run.
Let’s keep in mind that it was in no way “calling them out for abuse”, it was cops getting killed. The end result is that they are very very careful (hand on gun etc) in interactions that you’d wish were otherwise.
You apparently cannot read. I am not “hanging my hat one this particular one”, I have said very little about this particular incident. I am only responding to the police lovers who feel that they can never do any wrong, not ever.
You say I keep “droning on”, except I’ve not made a single post to that effect.
That you have so poorly represented my posts in this thread ought to say something, to you.
Do you blame yourself for making up things that I said that if I had said, then you would blame me for?
You are not only unable to read for comprehension, you also apparently cannot write coherently. Can you please declare your antecedents?
What are you referring to with “it”, there? I was referring to the increase that you cited in police killings is very much related to the police abusing the people in the communities that pay them for protection.
The main thing wrong is you are fucking annoying. Not everybody gives a shit what you think.
He who has knowledge spares his words,
And a man of understanding is of a calm spirit.
Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace;
When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.
Proverbs 17:27-28
So, the bible be sayin that you shouldn’t be sayin.
Why do you think everyone else has to live by your own personal rules? If you’re not smart enough to figure out that you shouldn’t play your music loud enough to bother your neighbors while you’re doing illegal things in your house, you deserve whatever you get. I really don’t care if you think I’m pathetic because I didn’t want to change out of my pajamas at 1 a.m. and walk down a very poorly-lit street to knock on the door of people I don’t know and ask them to turn their extremely loud music down. I’m not going to do that when all I have to do is pick up the phone and call the police. A residential street is not a good place to have a rave, and people shouldn’t have to be told that. I don’t care if they get hassled by the police or if they get arrested because they’re doing drugs. If they don’t want that to happen, they should be more considerate of their neighbors.
P.S. A little tip, because you probably do this–don’t speed while you have open alcohol or drugs in your car, because you’ll probably get stopped for speeding, and then you’ll be busted for something bigger. It will be totally your fault, not the cops. I hope you understand that now, because it will save you a lot of trouble in the future. Think about this when you’re in jail.
Uh, dude? We were talking about why the woman’s neighbors in the OP might have called the police, not about your crazy issues with your beleaguered neighbors. You know, if you stop calling the cops on them, maybe they’ll actually invite you to one of their block parties. You never know…
Ah, now I see I was mistaken in giving you the benefit of the doubt. You really are a peach. Any more predictions, Kreskin?
Don’t the poor and oppressed have enough problems already, without having to put up with your endless fucking sanctimony on top of everything else?
I don’t really want them to be shot, that’s just the feeling I get when first jarred awake by someone’s assholery.
What I actually want is for the police to ask them to turn it down and they politely do so. If they get belligerent with the police, they made their choice, I didn’t.
…when workers on non-day shifts may be trying to sleep.
…when people are home sick and trying to get rest which is disturbed by loud music blaring through the walls.
…when residents are simply trying to enjoy other activities but can’t because of a tenant playing wall-shaking music.
As for the officer’s allegedly confrontational questions (which don’t seem notably out of line to me) - the woman who wrote the piece may be leaving things out - like if she met the cop with a hostile attitude.*
As to “pattern recognition” - she was probably referring to diagnostic algorithms encountered in clinical settings, not basic science courses (which of course doesn’t prove her allegations).
*of which her neighbors might have been well aware, leading them to make a complaint to management/law enforcement, rather than knocking on her door and getting a death glare or accusations of racism.
**I’m not terribly sympathetic to rude loud people in general, including the party of three at the nearby Mexican restaurant table the other evening, who’d apparently had a few too many margaritas and showed it by loud loud repetitive banter, including repeating themselves several times to make a point as they were too intoxicated to notice what they’d already said. All were gringos, BTW.
