So after graduating college I find it hard to meet women. My job and friends and time-off activities are mostly male-dominated. This is not a relationship or self-help question - I’m honestly wondering what young, single women do with their time and who they hang out with. Certainly none of my cliques! If I were to find a few extra hours a week, what sort of pastime would be conducive to meeting intelligent, attractive, single women?
Have you tried…

libraries
parks
malls–while the teeny-boppers are in school
bars or clubs with live music
Chucky Cheese-ish places if you aren’t kid-phobic
Art Museum
Zoo–again, only if kid-friendly

?
A lot of this depends on your personality. Don’t go looking for women at a club if, once you’re “attached”, you plan on never setting foot in another one again. Ditto for museums or libraries.
There’s nothing worse than buying something, getting it home, and realizing it’s the wrong model!

I’ve been, and still somewhat am, in your boat. Do what interests you, but spread a wide net. I’m female, and I don’t expect to meet interesting men at the Knitting Nights at the local Borders, Books and Music. I do (and have!) at science fiction conventions. The SCA proved a bit of a washout for me, but it might have been better if I were in my 20’s, not 30’s. To my complete surprise, I’ve met some wonderful men at Mensa RG’s. You’ve got a particular advantage there because you’re dealing with people who find intelligence sexy! My parents also have an idea that I might meet the man of my dreams (or at least make a few more good friends) at the local American Youth Hostel group.
My point is, read the paper, check out the listings of events at bookstores, coffee shops, etc. and find something that looks interesting to you that you think women might be interested in as well. I’m not all that typical a woman, so I can’t give you much more specific advice, beyond try anything that looks interesting. Also, the men I love and have loved most started off as wonderful friends.
Good luck,
CJ
As mentioned earlier, it depends on your interests.
can be anywhere! The Sierra Club outings, bicycle clubs, health clubs, book clubs, …
If you’re into that sort of thing, volunteer for a good cause! There will be a lot of people around to socialize with while organizing a benefit event, for example, or even volunteering at the local soup kitchen or a church event if you’re religious. If you are that type of person and would like to meet a female like that, that’s something to try.
Our local independent CD shop had a big anniversary sale yesterday, and I was truly amazed by the number of extremely attractive, musically-geeky females in attendance without male companionship. I briefly wished I was single again.
(Note to Tamara if she reads this: it was very briefly, dear. Of course you’re the only one for me.)

Art/craft classes, such as pottery, painting, drawing etc.
Animal-related volunteer work, such as a therapeutic horseback riding center. I have a friend who lives in Texas and volunteers with a local Marine Mammal rescue (beached dolphins, etc.) Seriously impresses the ladies.
Book groups.
Cooking classes.
Not trying to be steroetypical, just thinking of specific things I do, where I see mainly women participating.
DANCE!
“I can’t dance”, you say? Doesn’t matter! Take a class, go to a contra dance (it’s easy to learn and they tell you what to do - no thinking involved - also, there are often workshops). In classes and at some dances, people switch partners every time, so you get to meet a lot of people. It’s great fun and good exercise. I met and dated several dancers before marrying one - it works!
