Women, male prostitutes and men's opinions

My understanding* is that a large percnetage of men that visit a prostitute, at least the ones at “ranches” in Nevada, do so to experience something they can’t normally otherwise. That is, they go to get what they want be it a fetish (say a redhead or an oriental), two at once, or even just a blowjob.

I would wager that a woman might go to a pro for the same- “servicing” in a manner that she might be too shy or conservative, in her normal relationships, to ask for. Maybe she wants to try something new, maybe she just wants to come, maybe she wants to feel, if only for the time she’s paid for, that the person fucking her really is interested in her and not just in getting laid, like some bar-hookup might be.

LouisB and Huerta88: I think the definition of “good sex” is pretty close for both men and women. I posit that both genders desire sex which "involves/requires some level of preparation/familiarity/comfort level/willingness to surrender control/“relationship” at least to some degree(although the degree seems to vary). As evidence for this “sameness” I enter into evidence the GFE factor.

If you’re not familiar with the term GFE, it means Girl-Friend Experience. If a prostitute advertises herself as a GFE it means she makes efforts to relate to the client as if they were in a relationship. This involves a certain suite of activities as well as the general attitude. GFE providers typically schedule by the hour, as opposed to charging by the activity, and encourage multi-hour sessions so there is no feeling of “in and out” or “revolving door”. In many cases they try not to schedule any appointment within two to three hours of another and do not accept same-day appointments. Typical sessions include DFK(Deep French Kissing), DATY(Dine At The ‘Y’, oral sex where the woman is recieving), CBJ/BBBJ(Covered Blow Job/Bare Back Blow Job), cuddling afterwards(typically denoted by the phrase “not a clock-watcher”) and conversation/foreplay before the act. Most GFE providers start off with a massage and then move to foreplay. The quality of a session with a GFE provider does have some relation to the level of chemistry between the client/provider, but the variation seems to be much smaller within the scale of “mindblowing” to “disaster” than random encounters as a result of pick-up bar meetings.

I’m not sure as to overall statistics how many encounters are “GFE” encounters, but the majority of successful/well-reviewes callgirls I have read about seem to be GFEs. I’d guess that worldwide the “Wham Bam Thank-You-Ma’am” is more common, but the GFE is a definite presence in the provider community.

thinksnow: It’s rare to find a GFE in a brothel, but it happens and I’ve seen reviews of them. In general I’d guess your suppositions are correct when talking about brothels and their clientelle. They are a place where the exact services are negotiated and do not depend on “chemistry” or luck. It’s a sure thing and if you’re wanting to experience a specific activity a brothel is still a good choice.

spooje I agree most encounters with male prostitutes are indeed for homosexual relations. Since I don’t have any experience in the community which reviews homosexual prostitution I can’t really speak for it, but there is enough crossover to say the majority are homosexual. Because of this I would guess that the equivelant of the GFE, the BFE, probably hasn’t gotten much attention. The male prostitutes I’ve seen favorably reviewed in the groups where heterosexual sex was the topic of discussion were mostly of the BFE type however.

LouisB, yes the services of male prostitutes who cater to female clients does run the gamut. Fit to not-so-fit, dominant to cuddly, I’ve even seen some that have money-back guarantees! Talk about confidence.

Never heard of the Kuta Cowboys, eh?

I’ve not been to Bali, nor am I female, so I can’t speak for quality of service, but you might want to check the link out.

Even here, though, the premise is that these guys con you into thinking they’re your boyfriend; sex may be part of it, but there’s not much of a suggestion that this is about random coupling on the beach.

‘Have Kuta’s cowboys have figured out what women want? Dowling puts it this way: “The story might have a happier ending if sex was the only thing the women wanted. But, you know women…some of us think sex should be wrapped in love. That’s the package these women buy, and the cowboys have learned to sell it that way. It may be a shoddy parcel in the cold light of reality, but Indonesia is a Third World country with poor electricity, so it’s hard to see what you’re getting. Bali is seductively dim; even when the power’s on, it’s the flattering flicker of candlelight.”’

That’s much more Bridget Jones than Anais Nin.

Mtgman, your research or experience (I’m not asking which) regarding the GFE phenomenon has made me think. I had heard (in the context of depressing Thailand bar stories) that there was an undercurrent of men seeking “date-like” experiences, or men who would hang out with the same bargirl for the entire length of their stay – but implicit in all of these stories was that the “GFE” was something of an afterthought to the main attraction, which was always the sex. This was also described as very much the minority approach, i.e., plain old hooking up accounted for the majority of the transactions. If you have a view, what proportion of female prostitute transactions are of the GFE variety? I posit: very low.
Mtgman also wrote: ‘I think the definition of “good sex” is pretty close for both men and women. Ah, but that varying degree is I think is at the heart of our discussion. For most women, the degree seems to be a lot such that (and I haven’t heard any dissent on this point, but would welcome any differing female view) the number of women who could, say, pay for sex with a guy they had just met in an alley or called up to their hotel room, two minutes after meeting him, is essentially nil; whereas for men the degree is, shall we say, much more flexible, so that many men (not all) can and do contemplate (and effectuate) an encounter with a woman they have known for five minutes.

Acutally I have a vastly different take on Thailand bar stories. Perhaps we haven’t read the same stories, but the ones I’ve read tended to run along these lines. Meet the girl in the bar, have a couple of drinks together and decide if you’re interested in her. Negotiate with the “mama-san” for a rate, either to use the back rooms of the bar or to take her out of the bar for the night. The full night is spent together including cuddling and sleeping together, typically dinner and breakfast the next day.

I’ve seen reviews where a customer would use the back room early in the night, then take another lady out later, but this seemed to be uncommon for a couple of reasons. First, in Thailand, as with callgirls, you buy by the hour not the act. If you have the stamina for “multiple bell rings”(the euphamism for male orgasm in the trade) then you’re more than welcome to enjoy more than one copulation during your time. So if you’re looking for variety in Thailand you could(and should, but this will be addressed in the next point) bar-hop and visit the back room in several bars instead of picking several girls in succession at the same bar. Why? Well, here’s point number two, and it’s another arguement for the “GFE” phenomenon. When a customer selects a girl she is considered “his” for the night, but she also considers him “hers” as well. Almost all the trip reports I’ve seen say that Thai women actually latch onto their customers and get jealous if they see them with another woman. I’ve seen numerous warnings in the trip reports about using the same bar unless you’re going to select the same girl. Selecting a second girl when the one from the night before is looking on tends to cause knife fights. Almost all of the trip reports spoke of the “girlfriend” quality of Thai sexworkers. After you leave the bar they tend to cling to you and stay with you until nearly noon the next day. They’re receptive to as many copulations as you would like, but the typical date seems to involve dinner, a little light entertainment, then an encounter before bed, sleeping together/cuddling all night, then a morning encouter, late breakfast and then she’ll go home.

Typical date length is over twelve hours. With two to four sexual encounters, this still leaves a remarkable amount of time for “girlfriend” type activities. I have also heard the stories of picking the same girl for the entire length of the stay.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I’m not sure how many sexwork encounters out of the entire pool worldwide are of the GFE variety, but it has a strong presence and finding a GFE provider is not very difficult. I think women would be interested in the converse, the Boy-Friend Experience, but they may well not be interested in the stereotypical “wham-bam Thank You Ma’am”. If women were allowed to go to Chippendales and select a man to take home for the night, around twelve hours, and were reasonably sure he’d make an effort to A) be an interesting and engaging companion, and B) be a decently-skilled lover who was interested in their pleasure, then I think we’d see a genuine demand, which, as per the nature of the market, would result in an increase in the supply. From what I’ve read, those are the common characteristics of the Thailand bargirls and the well-reviewed GFE callgirls of the States.

The ladies standing in the windows of the red light district of Amsterdam don’t typically get reviewed, although they may well represent a much higher percentage of the encounters than GFEs. I’ve seen a couple reviews of such ladies, but they weren’t something that would peak interest.

Enjoy,
Steven
