Women/teen girls fighting on camera

It seems lately that videos of women and teen girls beating the shit out of each other draw a large audience. Things like this: (NSFW, not a porn site, BUT, the ads and banners can be risque)

What makes this type of thing so popular nowadays(and you might not be exposed to things like this during your everyday internet surfing)? Is it the taboo of women and physical confrontations, or is it just another facet to humanity’s love affair of violence on film?

Maybe I’m not naive or sexist enough to think women are frail butterflies that don’t resort to violence. I don’t see why this stuff is so exciting or shocking and such a big hit on the intertubes. :dubious:

It is because guys hope that the fight will somehow end up in a make-out session, or that the girls will tear each other’s clothes off.

This rarely happens though. :frowning:

Well, that nothingtoxic site is all about videos of violence, injuries, death, or anything strange, so I wouldn’t say this video is a “hit” until I see it somewhere else. It says it has about 43,000 views.

Besides the getting naked things, girl fights are usually insanely vicious, moreso than any fight between to men I’ve ever seen.

Turn off the sound, and the really annoying catcalls of the men, and those two looked like they got tired of the “fight” about 20 seconds in, and they were too damned tired to swing at each other after that.

Yeah, I don’t know where OP gets “beating the shit out of each other” from. The two walked away and nobody was calling for an ambulance.

It’s also neither “exciting” nor “shocking,” and I doubt it’s a “big hit on the Internet,” other than for the kids personally connected to this particular ritualistic “fight.” Well, them and the OP, apparently.

Every week or so on Break.com I see a girl fight video. Break is one of the more popular video sites, so I assume that girl fights are a pretty big hit since they keep posting them. That, along with people caught masturbating, getting kicked in the balls, and people getting tased.

Wow, that was pretty disturbing. I would say she beat the shit out of her. Right at the end she was sitting on her with her arms pinned just punching her in the face. I’m glad I don’t hang out in places where this kind of video is popular.

Well, in that case…since at the water cooler every morning everyone is talking about Break.com :).

Seriously, when I think of a “big hit for the Internet” I think of something that gets attention from outside the Internet itself–in print, on T.V.–something that compels a cultural bump, like L.O.L. cats, however brief something like that may by.

It’s not only Break.com, but about every video selection site that caters to teenagers and young adults. YouTube even has a couple of videos that have over a million views. You won’t see this getting attention outside of the internet because this is the kind of stuff that can only be distributed through the internet.

Just because you don’t see ABC airing this stuff doesn’t mean it isn’t popular.

Just got around to watching that, and…didn’t seem like the girls were all that determined. No doubt they were pissed off about something, but that didn’t look like more than basic sparring.
Now, those guys whose voices are so prominent in the video need to be introduced to the phenonemon that is a Biker Bar.

That I could tell, pretty much everything they were doing was pretty ineffectual. It looked more she she was smooshing her fist against the other girl’s forehead than actually hitting–i.e. she would slow her hand down just before contact so that it wasn’t actually a punch.

I’m not sure if it’s a staged fight or if both of them were too afraid to do actual damage.

Anyways, all of that said, I think that finding a video like this to be common says more about the viewer than the event. I could entirely envision a couple of machismo latino dudes or college frat dudes sitting there with a couple of beers laughing, watching the video. But either of those is a fairly small sub-culture based on crassness.

Not a recent development by any stretch of the imagination. Girls have always been incredibly vicious to one another. The difference between now and then or even thirty years ago is simply the convenience of cell phone cameras.

Me neither, but any fight where someone gets hit in the face like 20 times and there’s no blood, isn’t much of a fight. They started off pretty motivated, but I think their arm strength was gone after about four or five swings and it was just weak mashing after that.

I’m always more afraid of getting beat up by a girl than by a guy (I’m a girl). You can’t end a girl fight with one swift kick.

On the contrary, I see one of these videos show up every once in a while on one of the morning “news” shows (The Today Show, etc). I think I have seen segments on two different videos this year, and that is with me not even paying that close of attention to the TV.

Girls don’t have kneecaps? I’m amazed.
