Women: What are your clothing preferences?

No hose, no socks, no high heels, no skirts, no sweaters (too hot). No sleeves shorter than 3/4.

I wear khaki pants and black cotton shirts to work, and out anywhere else too. Winter, Danskos/Sanitas or closed-toe Birkenstocks. Summer, Birkenstock sandals.

I would go without shoes most of the time if it were acceptable.

If I didn’t have to work, I’d look like I stepped out of an Eddie Bauer or LL Bean catalog every day, instead of just on the weekends.

If I’m not going out in public, it’s t-shirt or tank, no bra, knit shorts in the summer and sweatshirt, no bra, yoga pants or leggings in the winter.

Boo! I hate bras. I am not well endowed so it doesn’t matter if I have one on or not. Yoga or sweat pants. Mens t-shirts ( The fabric is better YMMV).
I love my crocs, my kids are constantly ribbing me about them. If no crocs, no shoes! I live in jammies at home, to the degree that the lil’wrekker claims all my cloths are p.js. She’s kinda right.

At work I wear jeans and tshirts with long sleeves when it’s cold, shorts and tshirts when it’s hot. I haven’t worn any shoes but Crocs in several years, except sometimes sandals in the summer.

At home, leggings or jammie pants with a tshirt and my granny sweater in the winter, tshirt and boxers in the summer. No bra, no shoes.

I like dresses, and I’d even buy a new dress for a dress-wearing occasion, except I never do anything like that. No stockings or makeup, though.

No social constraints? No, I like to be well dressed and fashionable and I have lots of clothes specific to what I like to do. Cute tennis dresses (into which I have sewn pockets so I don’t have to tuck balls into my undershorts), some trendy dancewear for my dance class, although I admit the last time I went I just wore some stretchy jeans. Knocking around the house I’m in leggings and something with pockets. I have bought things just because they have pockets. I also have a thing for shoes and I have like 200 pairs, but note that I rarely throw shoes away and I have some that are older than my oldest child. For just knocking around the house I like socks or barefoot but I will actually manufacture occasions to wear some of my fancier shoes. I will walk the dog in whatever I happen to be wearing, even if it’s saggy sweatpants, but if it happened to be stilettos I would change shoes just because sometimes the dog leads me into places that would wreck them. Absent social constraints I MIGHT wear sweats to the store, but since I have all these other options I like to wear, I’d probably change.

Jeans and shirts, usually t-shirts. Slippers or running shoes.

Cold weather: sweater, blue jeans, socks, running shoes

Hot weather: t-shirt, shorts, barefoot or flipflops

I love t-shirts with slogans, although I read somewhere (probably on the Dope) that after a certain age you aren’t supposed to wear them. Well, screw that. Past and present favorite t-shirt slogans I have sported include:

[ul]
[li]I love my nerd[/li][li]Democracy dies in darkness[/li][li]Resist[/li][/ul]

Two shirts I plan to buy next time I refresh my collection are:

[ul]
[li]I’m secretly correcting your grammar[/li][li]Evil keeps me young[/li][/ul]

Work clothes: pantsuit/tailored separates, Bass or Joan & David dress shoes, collared shirt, scarf.

Casual: basically LL Bean, head to toe.

Home: PJs/sweatpants, ragged-ass shirt/sweatshirt, leather slippers.

Ah, if you wore a hoodie rather than a cardigan we’d be twins

The last time my mother told me one shouldn’t wear jeans if over mid-30s, we happened to be at her parish setting up a potluck. She got a tap on the shoulder and an Extremely Pointed Look from a jeans-wearing woman in her 80s. They’ll have to pry my nerd shirts off my quickly-cooling body.

My sisters made us matching shirts for my birthday last year that read:

we are sisters
wearesisters
wearesisters
resist

You have to imagine the outer letters fading so it ends up reading “resist”. We wore those to the Women’s March, my birthday outing with my sisters.

To answer the OP: I wear what I want to wear. I don’t like having to match things, so I mostly wear dresses. That way, you have one thing to pick out. Usually vintage, because that way I can afford good quality fabrics. Less washing, more style. I’m lazy, is what I’m saying.

I don’t like the way trousers feel at all. They’re constricting when you bend and the feeling of something between my legs is weird. Jeans are the worst: they never fit, you can’t bend over, they’re cold when it’s cold and too hot when it’s hot.

When it’s cold I wear lots of wool, thermal tights and a dress or skirt. I recently made myself some big tweed skirts: so warm! Almost waterproof and they never need washing. I can do anything in a skirt, I don’t see the problem. I can lift my dog over a barbed wire fence and climb after her in a skirt; ford streams, climb trees, ride my bike.

I’ll be wearing my long tweed skirt and someone wearing jeans will ask me if I’m not cold in a skirt… :smack:

The only one I have is “Eat. Sleep. Quilt.” which I wear to the annual quilting retreat. I’m thinking of getting this guy

and perhaps this mug

I think because of cafepress searches, I’m getting ads for Bad Idea Tees. There are too many great ones to list!

Hanging around the house: Danskin yoga pants and sweatshirt or long sleeve tee. Weekends is barn clothes: breeches and tshirt or long sleeve shirt. The majority of my work clothes are bought at Talbot’s: traditional, classic separates or dresses.

My preferred mode of dressing is the first listed…

Most of the time I like to look put together and I try not to leave the house looking just any ol’ kind of way.

I work from home much of the time, and I have my yoga pants days every now and then, but most often I get up and put on a blouse with sleeves (I am cold natured) and dark jeans with a belt and some flats that match the blouse. If I have to go out I will put on a coordinating blazer-ish jacket.

When I am traveling and calling on clients or when I do go into the office I usually wear a dress with an A-line skirt or princess seams and I top it with one of those blazer-ish jackets I mentioned because I need pockets when I am working. If the dress isn’t lined I always wear a slip. I wear hose and closed-toe shoes in business settings, always. I never wear more than a 2-3 inch heel. I love to wear dresses and knee boots, although where I live it isn’t cold enough for most of the year to pull that off.

I weigh about 150 pounds and have a very pear-shaped figure and I sew most of my own dresses in order to get a proper fit. Shopping can be frustrating for me because if the top fits, the bottom is too tight. Most of my little jackets that I favor have come from Goodwill.

When traveling for business, I pack jersey knit wrap dresses because they don’t wrinkle.

My never-do list: barefoot, between the toe flip flops, sleeveless with no jacket, open-toe shoes with hose or socks, pencil skirts, or wearing a glorified T-shirt and calling it a dress, unless it is a bathing suit cover up.

No constraints? Comfortable pants with good pockets and Tevas. Tee if needed.

I have five tee shirts I got from Walmart Men’s section. Two are identical Bob Ross prints, one NASA, and one that says Let’s Get Weird. One is a plain black V neck. I have one tee I got from Planet Fitness when I joined. I have two pairs of loose cotton pants, one pair of “jeans” which are more like leggings with a jean print. I have two other pairs of leggings and four pairs of cotton shorts I got from Walmart men’s section. I have two pullover sweaters, one zip up jacket and a big flannel coat. I have about a dozen pairs of white ankle socks, a pair of tennies and a pair of slip on boots. I have big cotton Hanes brief style underwear and three “bralets”. Cotton unpadded T strap sports bras. That’s it. I don’t own a dress. I have a skirt somewhere I bought for a funeral. It’s been so long since I wore it I am not even sure where it is or if I still even have it.

I’m most comfortable in capris, khakis, or legging type pants. I have never found jeans comfortable. I wear them, but not often. I would love to go barefoot, but after 2 foot surgeries, the callouses across the bottom of my feet get bad and it’s just too uncomfortable, ouch! So, I usually wear Bobs. As for tops, I’ve got different colored T-shirt’s I wear around the house. For work I wear simple blouses or light weight sweaters usually. I’m rarely comfortable in heavy sweaters anymore, I think it’s my age. I’m a substitute teacher and I never know from building to building or even classroom to classroom what the heating situation will be, and I cannot stand being too hot.

I am retired. My at home uniform is sport bra, T shirt (sleeve length depending on temperature,) Hanes brand men’s heather gray shorts, zip front hoodie if necessary and wonderful thong sandals the most comfortable sandal ever!! . IMO men’s shorts are far more comfortable, less expensive and wear longer.

When I leave the house it is a different story. I am always dressed up when I do errands, lunch with friends or a date.

I agree about men’s shorts. I haven’t bought any in awhile, but I used to get mine in the men’s department at Penney’s or Kohl’s.

I work as a customer art framer. My uniform is jeans, a t-shirt of some sort, shop apron and boots.

For casual everyday, I often look like I could be on my way to a hard rock concert. Jeans, concert/band shirt or graphic tee. Leather jacket or hoodie depending on weather. Summertime it’s shorts and tees or tanks. I clean up nicely if necessary and even enjoy it from time to time, but it’s usually an edgy look.
