Woo Hoo! Astrogirl will be here soon!

Wow, am I totally behind on things. I didn’t even know you’d found a job in the US yet, Astroboy. So, triple-congrats, belatedly!

Actually, I haven’t found a job yet! I’m still looking, and taking a couple of classes in the meantime…

So, I went to the airport last night about an hour early, parked, and went into Terminal 1… only to read on the TV screen thingies that her flight was going to land at Terminal 2! Argh! Fortunately I was plenty early, so I went out, got back in the car and drove to Terminal 2. I parked, went inside, and the TV thingies there said the flight was going to Terminal 1! ARGH!!! Back outside, in the car, back to Terminal 1… Only to see that the TV thingies insisted that Terminal 2, was, in fact the destination for Astrogirl’s flight, and they didn’t give a flip about WHAT the TV thingies in Terminal 2 had to say about it! ‘OK’, I thought, ‘What I need here is human input…’ I approached the airline desk, and asked a harried employee there about my current problem. “No, no,” he said, “Flights from LA land at the OTHER terminal…” OK, so now I have the straight dope from an actual employee! Back to the car, and back to Terminal 2! I wandered around inside the terminal for a few minutes, pointedly ignoring the TV thingies and their taunts. But I saw no signs of any imending flights… especially ones that should have landed about 15 minutes before; you know, people, bags, squalling children, etc. Nada. 'Hmmm, I hmmmed, ‘Methinks I need yet more input…’ Surveying the area, I spied a booth containing 2 elderly women. A sign above their heads boldly proclaimed INFORMATION in large letters. ‘Just the thing!’ I thought. I approached quickly, and explained my situation. “No Dear!” said one of the ladies in a charming English accent, “Flights from LA come in to the Commuter Terminal!” WHAT’S THIS?!? I had heard of no Commuter Terminal… and I had been wandering around this place for the better part of two hours now! :smack: I went back out to the car, and I began searching for this Commuter Terminal… just as I spied a sign alleging the existence of such a thing, my cell phone rang. It was Astrogirl… “Where are you?” she asked. “I went to the wrong terminal… I’ll be right there!”

Shortly thereafter, I pulled up in front of the Commuter Terminal, and there she was!!

I jumped out of the car, gave her a big kiss, and said, “Welcome to San Diego, Honey!”

“Bastard!” she said…

So anyways, I got her home, showed her the apartment… you know the kitchen, the bathroom, the bedroom ceiling, etc. and now she’s engaged in what I believe biologists call “nesting” (IE: moving things, arranging things, barking orders…).

Now we have to go shopping for some Korean-girl food!

And I bet she’s gonna make me get a job soon…

Ah! True Love! I got all misty just reading that.

Have you checked out 99 Ranch Market yet?

I’ve heard lots of good stuff about their selection of Asian items. It may have some of the stuff you need!
And yeah, that commuter terminal thing sucks. I’ve been nabbed by it, too.

Congrats!

:snicker:

Welcome to America, Astrogirl!

Why the hell are you posting NOW, Astroboy?!? Go be with the woman you love… we voyeurs will wait.

Actually, there is a Korean market called “Zion Market” on Mercury St. near Balboa Ave. I took Astrogirl there yesterday, and she was quite happy to discover that it had everything she needs and more. Luckily enough, it’s only about a five minute drive from our apartment!

I only wish that there had been such a thing for Americans when I was in Korea… it would have been a God-send!

We also got here a step-ladder so she could reach the top shelves in the kitchen… she’s happy now.

Tonight a couple of friends are coming over for a house-warming party. We’re cooking Korean food, and playing tequila Monopoly! Wheee!
