I’m with autz. As for “one-way scumitis”, I think there is a big difference in intellect between Woody Allen and a girl my age. She was pretty easily led.
I know lots of SDMBers get their jollies by jumping on “technicalities”, because it is so easy to be right that way, but life doesn’t work by technicalities. In the real world, no one cares if fucking your wife’s daughter is “technically incest” or not. It hurts people, no matter what it technically is or isn’t. And as my biology prof said; “Pain is a way of telling you that something is WRONG.”

I have long felt that any woman who has to kiss him on-screen should get an automatic Oscar nomination. And Woody hasn’t made a good movie since the '70’s.
But about the ‘fondling’ thing with adopted daughter Dylan:
I have a problem with this. My problem is that Mia screamed about it only after Woody dumped her for another of her adopted daughters (creepy as all get-out, but not illegal). Before that, was she OK with it? Did she think it was just Woody being an affectionate dad? When, exactly, did she decide that his fondling was ‘inappropriate’?
So, either a) she was accepting of molestation so long as Woody was ‘hers’, or b) she only decided it was inappropriate AFTER she was dumped, or c) she made the whole thing up.
IMO, they are both scumbags.
It just might be hurting people, but the only important question in my mind is, are the two people involved in the “incestuous” relationship being hurt? If not, then I don’t really feel that what anyone else thinks about it matters.
Soon-Yi, by the way, will be 33 years old next week, so I think she’s old enough to making up her own mind about what goes on between her and Woody.
Some clarifications:
Mia had Woody talk to Dylan’s shrink about his inappropriate behavior with Dylan two years before the custody battle. Other people had pointed it out to her. Everyone agreed it was creepy. He was putting his thumb in the girl’s mouth when she was six years old, and wouldn’t Freudians have a field day with that?
Soon-Yi’s age and date of birth are unclear. She was left at a Korean orphanage. She was in high school and around 17 at the time of the affair with Woody.
When did Mia parade her children in front of the media with possibly couched stories? She shielded them from the media during the whole event. After the children found out about Woody and * their sister *, they didn’t want anything to do with Woody. Remember, all the children had Mia for a mother, whether it was natural or by adoption.
