whine Come on now…quit talking about people I don’t know!
Give me a cite please.
There is a big difference between some Greek who hosts a dinner party and an angel.
I will never understand why it is important to give your kids a biblical name but not important to make sure you actually know where in the bible the name came from.
Archie…? Archie Bunker…? I thought you were Dead.
Diane, gobear? smooches
Actually, I’m quite sick (cough, cough) so I’ll just blow you air kisses instead.
On the lips is okay. I need an excuse to take a sick day from work.
Damn, I didn’t even get to participate.
And, gobear? Priceless.
Actually, there is an angelic Jason, but he’s in the apocrypha.
According to 13th Apocalpyse of Esdra, there’s a third order of angels, the Calends, who hardly ever get mentioned because there are only two of them and they work in shifts. Very few girls are named after Jason’s feminine complement Djfmamj, except in California.
I must know. How is Djfmamj pronounced?
“Betty”
Bumping this older thread Dylan Farrow has for the first time written about this sexual abuse:
“When I was seven years old, Woody Allen took me by the hand and led me into a dim, closet-like attic on the second floor of our house. He told me to lay on my stomach and play with my brother’s electric train set. Then he sexually assaulted me.”

The problem is that is difficult to remember what happened when you were seven, and it is possible she remembered what someone else told her later.
She’s been repeating that story for decades. She didn’t just remember it recently. Also, if you read her account, it wasn’t just a one time thing. His whole pattern of behavior with her was wrong.
Wow, thanks for this. A rare instance when resurrecting a zombie thread in this way is a good way to go. Dylan’s account sure sounds damning to me. Legalities aside, I’m about ready to trust it completely, and make a complete about-face regarding how I feel about one of my favorite cinematic (and comic) artists.
Hold up, partner - another country heard from:
Sounded damning to me too; then I read this, which one of the commentors linked to. It’s also fairly persuasive. Also has some interesting information about Mia Farrow. I might believe Dylan but Mia, not so much. Read that link; you might be surprised.
ETA beaten to the punch by Maserschmidt; damn.
Thank you both. It sure is complicated. I won’t let it affect my feeling for the man’s work…not yet, anyway.
Dylan’s story is consistent and she’s been telling it for years. If you believe Dylan (you know, the actual victim, who was actually there) then Mia and this article from some random guy who’s trying to sell a documentary are beside the point.
And you know what else - the whole idea that we should dismiss Dylan’s words because Mia’s a crazy jealous bitch is exactly the sort of dismissive sexism that let predators get away with their behavior for decades.
And you know what else? There is a whole history of children being led to say all kinds of things that never happened, by adults who have a specific outcome in mind. (Does the name McMartin seem at all familiar? If not, go read about it.) And Mia Farrow seems to have had a specific outcome in mind. I don’t even argue intent, just that people often see what they want to see, and sometimes cause others to do the same.
We’ll never know for sure, but it doesn’t actually seem that complicated. All the evidence (seriously, ALL OF IT), points to Allen being innocent of everything that has been leveled against him. Doctors treated Dylan for months and found no evidence of sexual assault (and they testified that she was either lying or was being coached to lie). The tape that Mia Farrow made includes a lot of cuts and edits. The nannies say that Allen was never alone with her.
Oh yeah, and Soon-Yi was never his “daughter” and they’ve been married for decades now.
And further oh yeah, Mia Farrow’s connections with Sinatra and Roman Polanski make her look like the world’s worst hypocrite.
Yes.
Yes. Yes. Yes.
