Wooh…. Tank museum in Moscow.

Pictures. Lots of them.

Some really odd stuff in there, but what in the heck is the thing with the black treads about a third of the way in? It’s in between the pictures of an armored personnel carrier, and a half track missile launcher of some kind.

I’ve never seen anything like it. Must be experimental.

Anyway, lots of cool pics.

You mean the thing with two round wheels? It’s a German mineclearing vehicle. This site has pictures of a lot of the vehicle in the museum and it names them. Interesting stuff but the museum itself looks like crap. A shitty warehouse with rusting hulks outside. The Patton Museum on Ft Knox is fantastic.

ETA my link is to the page with the picture in question. More pics on the rest of the site

Tanks a lot!

Vedy intadesting.

That’s the best part!

Interesting site. I like how they use their own terminology to designate the German Tanks. They say “T-3” instead of “Panzer III.”

Something I have always wondered about, what are those little hollow tubes, usually in clusters of three, on the exterior of tanks? They are very visible in the four picture down.

Smoke grenade launchers.

What are the little pipettes coming out of the lowerfront of tank #3?

To hang those “reactive armor” blocks (like those on upper side).

they are probably for mounting the reactive armor blocks you see on the rest of the tank.

If you’re into armoured vehicles theres an excellent tank museum in Bovington England plus every summer theres a military vehicles show in the south of England .
I’m not sure of its present location but I think its in Hampshire somewhere.
The last one I went to had all sorts of WW2 tanks driving around plus lots of other vehicles and reenactments.

It was pretty gob smacking.
