Rather than hijack that thread by mentioning an old thread from 2005 dealing with Things it’s better to do right the first time by way of taking the “re-” off of otherwise meaningful words to make “words” that had some odd look, this time it’s take the -er or -or off and see what that verb (or whatever) would mean.
I figure if this works at all it will most likely be a game, thus this forum.
One to get it started: What do you call someone who “leps”? And what does one do when one “leps” to begin with?
Surely there are more clever ones that that, right?
To riv is to get way into the groove and just let it flow. These days hardly anyone can manage it for long. Doing it for just a little while is known as ‘riffing’.
One tends to feel very important when one empers - that is to say, being in charge of a large, diverse group - but few really get the chance.
It’s fun to fing things - that is, touch, fondle, and hold. Especially people, though you really need to ask permission, or they might break your fingers.
I’ve never been able to figure out what ‘danging’ (er…‘daynjing’, that is) was, though.
Heh. Among my friends, where “Monger” is a frequently used term, we do indeed use the term “to mong” as “to theatrically sell by crying your wares in the streets.”
“What are you going to mong today?”
“I got some awesome fish heads.”
“Bitchen.”
Anyway. In the spirit of this thread, “To quiv” would be to hold a large quantity of arrows, and to raptu is to ascend into heaven (or feel like you have).
We could be making new language here. To escalate (verb 1. to increase in intensity, magnitude, etc.: to escalate a war; a time when prices escalate) really is a back formulation from “escalator”.
