Word on Rob Zombie's movie?

What’s the buzz on RZ’s upcoming movie he directed? Night of 1000 Zombies?

I’m a fan of his music and appreciate his enthusiasm for b-horror flicks.

I hope it does well.

I’ve heard it was very gory and also “over the top.” I’m not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing, considering. I’ve not seen the thing myself, but I hope to in the near future. I have a feeling that whether it’s totally brilliant or totally cheesy or even brilliantly cheesy, this thing will achieve cult status.

Oh, and yeah, I also like some of his music. Astrocreep was one of my favorite albums when it first came up. Not so much of a fan of his more recent stuff, although that too gets the ocassional listen at my house.

I’ve seen it. It’s very…strange. Strange in the same way that Natural Born Killers is strange. The editing, the settings, the characters, all add up to give the movie a general feel of being “off” and disorienting the viewer.

If you’re a fan of horror movies, you’ll probably like it. If you’re not, you’ll probably hate it.

As a major fan of the genre (and of Rob’s music), I went expecting to be disappointed. I figured he’d make a major fanboy flick that touched all the bases but just didn’t work.

I was wrong. I was horribly, horribly wrong.

House of 1000 Corpses is, bar none, the best entry into the psycho killer terrorizing innocent victims genre I have ever seen. There was NO politically correct editing, a good amount of gore, lots of good BOO!-type gratutitous things to make you jump for no reason, a few good laughs, lots of “Holy shit!” and oodles of excellent chills and generally disturbing creepiness.

He even brought in Sid Haig (Drago from “Jason of Star Command”) as the crazy clown running the roadside freak museum and fried chicken stand.

It was the most perfect horror film I have seen to date, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Sid Haig is a god. The entire movie should of featured him and his gas station/museum/chicken stand. The rest of the movie had some nice moments, but Sid has replaced Hasslehoff as my new personal god.

I was never once scared or startled by the movie, but I left the theatre feeling edgy and ‘unclean’… All and all, its a good B horror movie. I was kinda suprised by the lack of gore, but I guess they had to cut it out. There’s a good amount of blood on screen, but not as much as I expected.

My sister is a horror film fan, and a regular Fangoria reader. She’s been looking forward to this movie for three years based on the Fangoria feedback. It’s supposed to be that good. If you love horror films.
