WARES
Wared, I think.
11850! and if I hadn’t effed up one round (297), I coulda been a contender!
Not fun. Makes me feel stupid.
How the hell do people guess it in five tries? I’m just narrowing down an area of the alphabet by then. I’m not good at this.
I got drool! Only took me a gazillion tries.
“Larch” is not a word.
The Larch
That is not a good word.
Luck has a great deal to do with it. My first word was “smart”. My first guess was “smart”. Hmm. I thought I was a genius. For a minute.
That was totally counter intuitive to me (design-wise). To me, if the word you put floats to the top, that word would be higher alphabetically. When you’re typing in the middle and you have the word above it, graphically it looks like that (to me, at least).
I’m at 23 tries and stuck between TWERP and TWIGS.
Oh, TWICE
Bite me!
TWICE?
Thanks Randy. I’m off to the dunce corner.
http://www.crossword-dictionary.com/ is worth its weight in gold. That being said, I still don’t think I’ve gotten higher than 3000. I have to believe that there is a fair amount of luck in here, unless you believe in clairvoyance.
My high score so far is 10,000. Am still obsessively trying to best it. Thanks for nothing, Interrobang?!
Hey, I don’t think I’ve cracked 10,000, so apparently my punishment is my reward.
Really fast typing even if it’s a bad guess. That x4 on the 17th try is worth quite a lot of points.
Are you doing your guesses by halves? I start with MOUSE – then if the word is earlier than that, I go halfway between “A” and “M,” usually with “FIELD” – then divide that range in half (DOUBT or ICIER), etc.
If you work by chunks like that, you can narrow in on your range fairly quickly.
And, yes, there’s certainly an element of luck.
Ack! Got stuck between READY and REEDY
REBEL?
