And again, this is some bullshit. WTF?!
Am I the only one who grew up with the ‘countdown’ of Once, twice, trice? Like when swinging something/one heavy in a game, like ‘go on three’?
I thought the word was thrice, not trice. Like if you water your plants thrice daily and already did it once, then you need to do it twice more since once from thrice is twice.
Well, on the playground where I was when I was at the appropriate age for those type of games (maybe California, maybe Alabama, Dad got shifted around by his company a lot in those days) it was definitely ‘trice.’ Not to say we kids might not have gotten it wrong.

Glad I went for a test word at 3, as TRICE would have certainly been my last inclination. I think I only had four possible words left (TWICE, TRIPE, TRIKE, TRICE), so it would have been a 6, but 4 is better. And I might have missed something.
(Edit: Forgot about TRITE. Scoredle says I also had TRIDE, TWIRE, and TWITE, but if one of those had been the answer, I’d quit Wordle forever.)
That’s incorrect. “In a trice” means to do something quickly or soon. “Thrice” means three or third, as in “once, twice, thrice”.
The above should probably be spoilered.
Oh, those annoying all-but-one-letter, multiple-possibilities words …
