The P was a surprise hit, then I thought I’d try getting A and E in there. Almost went with SPACE at two, but figured R was a better hedge. Turned out it didn’t matter. Honestly, I think I would have been more annoyed if it had been SPACE and I’d second-guessed myself out of a two.

SLANT → Shouldn’t have duplicated the T. Oh well. What goes between S & A? Not C, H, L, N or T… try a P? Is A the only vowel? Maybe…
*SPARK → …or probably not. Try a silent E on the end with the one consonant left that makes sense…

I blithely typed in STAGE and SCALE, then realized there were likely many words not yet winners and not yet ruled out by eliminated letters, which would fit.
So belatedly I started brainstorming, and got SHADE, SHAPE, SHAVE, SNAKE, SPADE, and SUAVE. Test word HAVEN eliminated all but SPADE.
A happy 3 today.

Getting three greens on my first word seemed great, but not so much - I had a list of 15 possible words. I had to toss out a sleuth word for my second word, and it turned out to be a good one, as it ruled out all but 2 words…and I chose correctly.
