I really don’t get why. It’s a regular word, it’s in current usage, it’s not slang or obscure or archaic or otherwise rarely used.
Should all common words that use one letter 3 times be excluded, just because they’re more challenging? They’re certainly that, but I wouldn’t call that a cheap shot.

Once I had the three greens of MUGGY I got overconfident and just started guessing. Luckily there weren’t that many possible answers (and even more luckily, I didn’t think of “muzzy.”
Gotta admit, that’s a new word to me. But it’s been around awhile; it’s in my 50 year old American Heritage dictionary. I may have seen it before and simply assumed it was a word the writer had invented on the spot. It’s got a certain onomatopoetic quality to it.

Darn triple letter word! I had to toss out a sleuth word (Dogma) to check Muddy, Muggy, Mummy, and if it wasn’t any of those words, it’d be Muzzy (though I wasn’t sure if that’d ever be a Wordle answer, but I wasn’t going to take any chances for a fail). And Mummy it was…Wordle is being in the spirit of Halloween I guess.

I thought of YUMMY as well, but luckily decided to go for a triple letter rather than a double double. And WordleBot says that the average number of turns to solve was 5.5, so I don’t feel too bad about my 5

At the last second I also saw vault, but I didn’t see any other options so I just went with fault because I saw it first. Another really fast and lucky game. (50/50 chance today, 25% chance yesterday when I guessed mummy and it could still have been dummy, gummy or yummy.) I’ll take luck.

FAULT - apparently there were four possible words. Either FAULT or VAULT would have narrowed it down to 1 (if it’s wrong). One out of four chance for getting in 3. Otherwise it would have been 4
Another possibility for guess #2, given SLANT as a starting word, was AGLET. (It’s that little plastic thingy at either end of a shoelace.) I wouldn’t have put it past Wardle to have it on his list, but I didn’t think it was very likely.
