Odd one for me today. Getting the one letter first was a help, but maybe a hindrance as well.

Better day for me today. Once I had those three letters, I couldn’t come up with any word other than this that didn’t use a letter I’d eliminated or put one that was right back in a spot that wasn’t right. Luck, to be sure, but I’ll still take it.

Luck, and that very few options are left when only one vowel is left, and one knows the locations of 2 consonants.

My graph is 0,1,6,10,4,6 - with 1 miss (that STILL stings).
28 played, 96% win, 15 current/max streak.
@not_what_you_d_expect - I was going to use your fourth word as my second, but didn’t think the program would take it for some reason. Darn it. That would have lead to a 3 for sure.
Today’s was the first I couldn’t get.
Well you knew someone would do it sooner or later.

I barely made it. Rough!

I don’t see how you could get it in one or two tries without being mostly luck. Much less might be involved for three or more guesses. I’m averaging 3.67, and by the last guess am generally picking from fewer than two or three common options.
I think it was mentioned that one can change the date in one’s computer or device to get the past wordles, one Redditor though decided to be helpful and have the past wordles for all to play, although with a slightly different display (use the checkmark button to enter your word):

WINCE → Something to build on. Can’t think of a T word, so…
CHILD → 2/5 but nothing else. Gotta try R & S out.
CRISP → only one more word I can think of.

Wordle 218 4/6 (1/23/22)
ADIEU-- my standard starting word, let me know that there’s an I as the third letter, but no A, E, or U in the puzzle at all. In a five-letter word, that indicates to me that there’s probably only the one vowel.
BRIGS-- struggled to think of a word with I as the middle letter. Ended up picking up the R.
PRINT-- from here, it was figuring out what could go before R and I. Print seemed like an obvious choice. It wasn’t the correct answer, but it got me a P out of place.
CRIMP-- I really struggled on this one. But I didn’t have a whole lot of options left. If there’s no B, and it can’t be P at the start of the word, what else could it be? I went through the other letters in my head, and came up with C, and then CRIMP. Correct answer.
Tied for my best performance ever. I’ve never gotten it in 2 or 3.
Wordle 218 3/6
Rookie mistake. If you get the last four, you never just guess another one with those four. If you can get, say, ?OOKS, you never go for BOOKS, then LOOKS, then HOOKS, then ROOKS, then KOOKS, then COOKS. You instead try BLOCK.
Tomorrow’s was tough for me.

That only works if you’re not playing on hard mode.
So, perhaps it’s an “expert mistake”?
Yes. I’m playing all of them on the hard setting except the French ones.
I believe the rookie mistake is playing in rookie mode.

Kind of a lucky guess on the third word.
