Started out pretty tough. Didn’t get a single yellow clue, never had that happen before. Ruling out all the vowels early and getting that second letter was key.
Well, good to know that you’re not homophonophobic.
PLANK It worked out well. I found out three letters (four counting the double L ), and they were all in the wrong place.
I missed it for the first time today. I’m kind of stunned.
Well, back to square one.

I’m still doing the Spanish, French, and German ones. It’s both a blessing and a curse that those languages all share so many cognates; it makes it easier to pick out words that fit, but sometimes I don’t even think about a word that I consider to be English. The last word in today’s Spanish wordle was BINGO, and I only even considered it at the last possible moment

That starting word from fivethirtyeight seems to be working pretty well even when hard mode makes me come up with my own choice for second guess.

One of the possibilities I thought of for my third guess was FUBAR, but I doubt that’s allowed. 
It’s worth noting, if you do ever want to try something other than five letters, there’s a site that will let you pick anywhere from 4 to 11 letters, and you can do multiple puzzles in a day.
The most I’ve done is seven, but I will eventually try 11…

Second and third guesses were inefficient as they contained letters I knew weren’t part of the solution, but the information ultimately helped.

I keep getting it in 5, and today’s was no exception, and the reason I finally get it in 5 is due to this very thing - tying down floating letters by process of elimination.
