While it’s always fun and exciting to get a one or two, I’m usually left with a certain sense of dissatisfaction as well. It’s over too quick, like a premature wordleation.
Also, it’s pure luck to start with the right word by accident, which makes the ‘genius’ designation you get sound kind of ironic…
Maybe ‘telepath’ would have been a better choice!

Coulda also been PATIO; I won the coin toss. Worst I could have done was three after a fortunate starting word.
I knew there were going to be some happy people here today when I figured out today’s word.
As for me, I really screwed the pooch with my second try. Definitely lost my focus. At least I made it in 3!

Almost went with Ratio, but I had three A words. I didn’t really think it all through hard enough though - I see now that all four words were pretty equal as far as what they’d tell me, but I just was focused on having three A words and feeling I should check that first. Oh well…I’m not mad about a 3, but when I coulda had it in 2 easily, it’s just slightly disappointing. Easy to say in hindsight though.
I’ve never used Ratio for a start word, but I knew some people would be sniping this one, or getting 2’s - t’was a great day for you all!

FLORA → Good start! I’m not sure why I didn’t try ROAST here, but for some reason I went with…
ROMAN → Which was simply not as good. But I’ve already checked out the O of ROAST, so I need to think of something else. I’ll swap the vowels and see if we have a double consonant…
RAZOR → I really need more letters - starting to regret that guess. At least O is known to be at the end. RACKO doesn’t work, but I think I’ll need another vowel…
RADIO → and I do, but a different consonant.
RATIO
Guessing ROAST second might have gotten me a 3. Sigh.

After TACKY I started through the alphabet (letters not yet eliminated), checking BA words, DA words, FA words, etc. If R came before P I’d have gotten a three.

KENCH
SMASH
I’m kinda proud of this one. I came up with literally 27 possibilities that had an S and A in the first and third spots, respectively, and didn’t have an L, R, or T. And only three of them were previous solutions.
So in those 24 possibilities, I counted letter frequencies for the 2,4,5 spots, and initially came up with WENCH as a good, but less than ideal, word to use as a filter on those 24. But if KENCH was a word, I thought, that would be way better. So I tried it, and it was accepted as a guess (which I really wasn’t expecting!), and it eliminated all the possibilities but one!
Sweet.

That yellow H short-circuited my brain a little bit. Took a couple minutes to even identify what the second letter could be (M), and then several more minutes to figure out how the H could come into play in the last two letters. I just was not seeing double S.
