Could have had a guaranteed four with a test word but decided to try for a three. This is where I suspect the old word lists might have helped me.

Again just using my standard follow-up. I’m digging these answers.
A little, but not a ton. Only one of those words has been an answer before.

SNACK, SNAFU, and SNAKY had already been played; could’ve also been SNAKE, SNARK, SPAWN, or SWAIN, although that last is kinda archaic.
So a lucky 2, and happy to join EllisDee and newtosite in back-to-back 2’s today. This is my first ever getting them back to back. ![]()
Oh yeah. If you’re trying to get in the neighborhood of a 3.5 average, you need five 3’s to make up for one 6, and three 3’s to balance out a 5.
Haven’t summed up the numbers in a couple months, but through Wordle 762, N had appeared 175 times, while M had only shown up 106 times. So yeah, big difference there too.
It’s not just because of the hits, either. There are countless times where I will think of a possible answer but then realize it has an N and I already eliminated N. It’s not all that often that the possible answers I think of have an M. As a quick example, there have been at least a dozen times my mind has gone to INERT, only to then discard it because of having already eliminated N.
So many times I would have wrongly guessed an N word* if I had started by checking M first.
*Google voice hyphenated that. Yikes!

Lots of twos today, and I’m happy to be one of them!
I should attribute this one to pure dumb luck. But I actually gave a good bit of thought to my second guess, so I’ll take at least a little credit.

CLOSE → For a second there I thought I was going to get a fourth K in a row. I should have known S & E would bail me out. OK, another vowel and a couple more comcons
STARE → Oh my. Technically a trap, but it doesn’t threaten a loss - SCARE is out. SHARE/SNARE/SPARE, I think that’s it, I’ll try H then N then P
SNARE
A good luck guess disarms the trap. Plus, I’ve got a great starter word for tomorrow!
