And yet I managed to find one and make my four a five.
That’s a skill that I’ve developed too.
Wordle 667 3/6* 4/17/2023
DWELT → That’s an odd pickup. Well… I’d like to try something with A & I, but the only word I can think of with those and a W is…
WAIFS → OK. WRIF?/WUIF?/WOIF? go nowhere… I could put an H in there, but I’d have to double the F… so…
WHIFF*
This was one of those days where the key letter carried over from the previous day’s solution, making it a lot easier for me than the average. Plus, the second key letter was in my second guess. Today, I was the windshield.
I’ll take my 4 today and be damn glad for it.

WHIFF
Tricky little word.
Today, you were also the Louisville Slugger.
“I gotta go take a whizz” - common slang expression, among guys, anyway.

AROSE

DWELL
DWELT
For guess 3, I was stumped for a long time. Few options occurred. Was going to go with TWEET; time went by while I did other things and for some reason DWELL seemed more likely. Maybe I was unconsciously spoiled somewhere.

This was a fast par due to having ONLY I as a vowel; trying some WH words was a natural first resort.

After Rough, I only could see Hilly, Think, and Whiff. I wanted to play Whiff, as I could totally see that one getting tossed up, but I resisted…and then kicked myself when I saw it was indeed Whiff. Ah well, 4 it is.
I played my 400th game yesterday
For those who are interested in the stats:
1 = 1 (got spoiled…doesn’t count)
2 = 21
3 = 122
4 = 164 (not including today’s 4)
5 = 67
6 = 22
Fails = 3
Guess Averages per each 100 Games:
1st 100 = 3.86
2nd 100 = 3.99
3rd 100 = 3.73
4th 100 = 3.73
400 Games Average = 3.83
I’ll take that small improvement the last 200 games. This is, of course, mostly a game of luck and chance vs. there being a “best strategy” (other than the usual playing of commons early on), but it’s still interesting to break it all down and see the numbers.

WHIFF
Almost forgot to play today. Weird to have zero consonants in the first three words (though not as weird as @EllisDee’s game today!).
Took me forever to come up with a word with I in the middle and four letters I hadn’t used yet. Tough one, and it looks like I’m not the only one who thought so.

SHONE
HOUND
This took me an embarrassingly long time.

PLANT

HIMBO
HOUND
After 2 the _OUND trap was pretty obvious. So I cheated twice: First I bailed on hard mode rules completely, and second I used an anagram solver to come up with a word that contained BHMW along with any single vowel. Closest I could find was himbo and whamo, so I went with himbo to also check I just in case it wasn’t an _ound word.
Technically I kind of cheated three times by checking which variations had already been answers: found and sound. Plus my first two words eliminated pound and round, so I didn’t bother to look for those in the previous answers list.
(Not the greatest showing by plant eliminating letters in this trap. That’s the entire reason I use plant as my opener, to use up trap letters before hard mode kicks in. Only hit one of them.)
