CRAFT
Couldn’t fit ser in my second guess so just started guessing for the win immediately. Bummer that I saw graft before craft, but equally lucky that the answer wasn’t draft.
PRUNE → One R, placed, everything else blank. Next up, two vowels and two more comcons
TRAIL → Another hit, and a near miss. Feels like this is going pretty fast. I’ll try that T right after my two known letters
WRATH → Eh, missed. Looks like I don’t need to try S or O. Is this a trap?
DRAFT → Yes it is, but I think it won’t get me. G or C?
GRAFT → Darn, should have tried C.
CRAFT
Per Scoredle, I had 14 possibles left after my second guess, ten of which were IMO bogus. Wouldn’t you know I have to exhaust all of 'em before I get it right? At least Scoredle makes a detour through BRASS right after my starting word, but thereafter its guesses looks remarkably like mine, also finishing in 6.

The reason I got a 2 was luck. If you pick the right start word, and I do different ones, this time it worked.
I am happy though.

Bleah. GRAFT would have given me a six, so I guess that’s something.

Could have also been DROOL (didn’t think so, though) or BROIL (didn’t see this one); DROLL and GROWL had already been used.
