MANGA → Hmm, I like that “NG” at the end of the word… and if I move it, I can try a pair of vowels… but I’ll have to trust the B. Let’s give it a shot
BEING → and… nothingness. OK, let’s try a couple WoFcons with another vowel - O or U? U seems to go better with that NG ending.
STUNG → Ooh, close. It’s a trap… but I think I’ve got this. L?
SLUNG → Nope. W?

Scoredle tries GOING instead of BEING, and reorders the two trap misses, but otherwise its sequence looks very much like mine. Bummer to miss the par, but going for WoFcons first has its price.

SKUNK or SPUNK would have been a wiser move (used words notwithstanding). I didn’t consult the list, but I think SKUNK was somewhere in my memory banks, and I thought the NYT might avoid SPUNK’s double entendre. So I guessed right. Never did see SUNNY.

Took me forever to see the solution. I’d come up with a bunch of possibilities after 2, but my 3rd guess killed them all. Finally saw UTTER, but it had been used. Fortunately, I kept going, undeterred.
