I am, as a subscriber. The NYT keeps good track of my Wordle score. Can’t say the same about my crossword streaks. No rhyme or reason why they regularly reset to zero, despite no missed games.
Now that’s interesting. So maybe the NYT site is run by people who think it’s no big deal to reset (and thereby distort/shrink people’s statistics)? So they don’t bother to correct the coding that lets this happen?
I mean, I’m sorry that happens to you (and presumably to others, too). But you’d think the NYT would find it prudent to spring for some better coding, to avoid having people form resentful feelings about them.
I understand they’re quite responsive to people who complain when it happens. I’d bitch if it were my Wordle score. But I can’t get too het up about the crossword. I’m going to miss them now and again and would rather not feel disgruntled over it.
Put it this way: It was embarrassing enough keeping the Wordle score alive throughout my recent 2-week internet outage. The local coffee house started calling me by my first name and my friends who offered access to their internet gave me faintly pitying looks.
I can’t imagine how much worse that would have been if I’d hung out long enough to do the Sunday crosswords!
Annoying—but at least those resources were available! (And I bet you got to try a bunch of new coffee flavors!) 
I just tried that game (puzzle #128) and it took me 6 guesses. I was just kind of quickly going through it, but I got stuck in the STU trap, and I forgot about the N! Anyhow, I only got one snarky comment from it on my 2nd word. It did tell me that most got it in 4.6 guesses though, just to add insult to injury. 
I’m not registered. I also play on Chrome browser and get to the game same way as you do. My stats are intact…fingers crossed they stay that way, but I feel your frustration. Have you tried to disable all extensions, just in case?
LOL this must explain why I keep reading Wordlebot’s abusive comments! And boo hiss on the comment on CAPON; why isn’t it just as valid a word as PINEY and PARER?

Until a couple of months ago, I was registered with the NYT, but not a subscriber. At first, I wasn’t logged in, and Wordle kept my stats, but then I lost them at one point, near the beginning of the Times version. Then, I always kept a tab open to the Wordle site, and it kept my stats. I logged in at one point so I could play on other devices.
Now I’m a subscriber and logged in, so I hope I won’t lose any stats.
Actually, I do too. That may be why my stats are intact even though I’ve never registered.
