TIL that Scordle lists the “possible guesses” at each step in the order of how optimal it considers each guess. And apparently DEPOT was my 87th-best choice at two. Yikes. Ah well, managed a par regardless.

SWING → Thought for a second I was gonna whiff. A rarer consonant is pretty good, now I just have to find out where it goes - and do my usual vowels-and-WoFcons thing as well, such as with
GLARE → Huh. Not much help there. So try O & U, throw in T as my last WoFcon, shake 'em up and add H and try
OUGHT → Maybe TOUGH would have been a better one to try. Hmm. Double letter? It’s not ?OGGY. Perhaps ?OOGY, like LOOGY? BOOGY is probably a valid guess but not a solution. Or maybe there’s another repeat letter I could use
DODGY
A testament to the power of elimination. Also, starting off with the one letter was good, even if it was so hard to run down its place. My fourth guess was between a 3-trap variant of the solution (I think the other two possibles are bogus) and the one word I had considered (and rightly rejected). Scoredle, on the other hand, finishes with a birdie via GAUGE as its second guess, one which turns out to be extremely effective at both eliminating consonants and placing the one known letter, leading to a 50-50 par.

DODGY → Carryover of the G is nice. Wasting a D isn’t. Well, A & E and two WoFcons to go with that G gives me
GATES → I was worried for a second that it was a wasted guess. My mind wandered for a bit and then I saw a word that let me try to place the E and try another vowel as well, so I gave it a shot
SEGUE
Turns out that birdie putt was the only nonbogus word left out of four. Scoredle also birdies the puzzle, but its second word (only one letter different from mine) doubles up on the known letter in a successful effort to place it.
