PRISM → Well, this is something to work with. Needs more vowels, SPEAR would be nice but I don’t need the R, can I get something near it?
SPEAL → Yep, Wordle comes through on the bogus word. Let’s see, if there’s another vowel it’s probably another E, or if consonants could be SPECK, SPEND (or SPENT!). I feel like we’ve already done SPECK, and maybe one of the other two, so I’ll take a flyer on
SPEED
May be the luckiest birdie I’ve had at this game. My second guess isn’t even in the top 120 possibles, per Scoredle, and a six was possible if that third guess was badly wrong. Scoredle also pars, with a guess of beauty for its last - out of 14 valid possibles (one of which was SUNUP! Heh) it went straight for the right one.

A second E was pretty much a given. I happened to pick the right word from the half-dozen or so legit possibilities.

SLATE
TAINT
BATCH
I’ve kept track of my #2 guesses for the distinct answers to #1 Slate.
In #1605 I asked Taint and in the thread discussed how it seemed a good
clue despite introducing only one new consonant. If I don’t trust myself from
a month ago, who am I going to trust?
In that old analysis I’d noted that Match was already-used but overlooked
five words that rhyme with Match. ![]()
Fortunately all but one of those were also already-used. ![]()

BATCH
HATCH, MATCH, PATCH, WATCH had already been used, untrapping the trap. If they hadn’t, sleuth words like BUMPY, WIMPY, and HUMPH, the last of which was the solution to Wordle #3, were available.
I was a bit disappointed that ZATCH (from James Thurber’s The Thirteen Clocks) couldn’t even be used as a guess.
Didn’t post yesterday, so here’s Wordle #1651 (4/6):
