When I typed the solution into my spreadsheet, Excel decided it should be spelled DÉCOR, with the acute accent over the E. Which would be fine except that I sort one copy of my list alphabetically, and I’m sure Excel would treat E and É differently with respect to an alphabetic sort.

I rather than O or Y is the vowel most likely to occur with E, I think, so I used a different
#2 sleuth. Nine words fit of which 4 were already used. Neither Reedy nor Odder
would guarantee par, so the choice was among Derby,Decor,Demur.
I got lucky.
