So: BRAKE, BRAVE, DRAPE, FRAME, GRADE, and GRAVE had already been used, and DRAKE, GRAPE, and GRAZE hadn’t. In the 40 Wordles between CIGAR and today, only 3 have been reruns. If this was another non-rerun, then going with GRAPE or GRAZE would give me a 1/3 chance at a 3, and a 2/3 chance of a 4. If it was a rerun…well, less than a 1/10 chance of that, so I’d just deal with it if that’s the way it went.
So I went with GRAZE on 3, then GRAPE on 4, after which it had to be a rerun. Of the three previous post-CIGAR reruns, all three were from early on - Wordles 4, 51, and 296. (Small sample to infer anything from, I know. But you work with what you’ve got.) So being faced with a seeming coin toss between GRADE (Wordle 15) and GRAVE (Wordle 1615), I went with GRADE. The pattern holds - so far.
That’s the biggest perk of being a mod. But fwiw, if you make a confusing typo, I’m allowed to fix that, too, if you ask me too. I’ll indicate that i fixed it somewhere.
