Had to think about this one a minute.
On the one hand, SMILE was the obvious answer after 2: the only alternative would have been SOILY, which seems kinda iffy to even be on the solutions list. But OTOH, SMILE was not only a previous solution, but it was the solution to Wordle #830, and since the recycling era was inaugurated with Wordle #0, CIGAR, on Groundhog Day, there had been just 10 reused solutions, and theyβd been the solutions to Wordles 4,15,51,57,59,70,122,160,164, and 296. And 830 was quite the outlier to that sequence. Hell, even 296 had seemed like an outlier.
But on yet another hand (hi Zaphod!), ten data points isnβt much to go on. And since both SMILE and SOILY seemed to be gambles, I went with SMILE.

CLANG β Carryover gets very little. Followup is one of my favored first guesses second
LOSER β Three yellows, one vowel (and two out). Iβm guessing thereβs one more vowel out there, so letβs try the I, and thereβs one more WoFcon as well. which gives me a try of
STILE β Oh, so close.
SMILE
Followup was oddly good at 67/1105, third guess less preferred at 85/100 (though it did leave just 3 possibles, two bogus). So, not a bad par. Scoredle makes a well-played birdie, doubling up on the known letter in its followup and making the 1-in-4 putt - so a nice day for the algorithm.

The third guess was dumb, because i knew the T couldnβt go there. But i didnβt think ETUDE would be a valid wordle answer, and got distracted.
