STALE → Lotta pickups, not much placed yet. I decided to punt on a solve attempt here and find a place for the T
LETTY → There it is. I resolved to try N or R of the remaining WoFcons, and after some boggling settled on
INTEL

Followup was a respectable 70/1508, third a mediocre 21/33 but in the event it left only a tap-in for par, so more than a bit of luck was involved. Scoredle takes its methodical time, trying a letter placement with its followup and then WoFcons with its third, then picks the wrong end of a 50-50 (avoid slang and neologisms in the endgame, Scoredle!) to finish with a bogey.

Lotsa fun with the -OUND trap this morning, huh? After 2, I had unused BOUND and MOUND, and POUND (Wordle 49) was well within the reusable zone. Also, FOUND (Wordle 282) wasn’t all that far outside it. So a sleuth word was called for to get me through this BUMPY road.
