Two letters gone, six more to go, four guesses left, and I sat here for a few minutes trying to find a sleuth word that would get me safety, or, barring that, improve my odds. Finding none, I jumped in and hoped for the best

A very lucky par. For getting 7/778, 5/27 (with the top 6 words all in the trap), and 3/6 for the win, I do feel that I somewhat deserve that luck, though. Scoredle’s luck was not so good; after an attempt to place the opening letter with its followup, it jumps into the trap with all 8 words live, and does not survive to tell the tale.
