I am in the middle of reading Stephen King’s the Dead Zone (not a bad experience so far) and I came across a word that baffled me, my brother, the two semi-worthless dictionaries in the house, yourdictionary.com and Google (a half-assed Google search anyway). So, I ask you, what the hell does Allamagoosalum mean?!
Sounds Arabic.

Pg 555 When I asked Kyra what she did with them, she started crying and said Allamagoossalum took them . . . It’s a corruption of the Micmac word for ‘boogeyman’ or ‘demon’. Kyra had a good many nightmares about demons and wendigos and the Allamagoosalum late last winter. (Desperation, Pet Sematary)

So - some kind of demon - possibly 100% in the mind o Mr King?

Thank you for the help, though it leaves me to wonder. I am basically new to the world of Stephen King (I have read 3 of his books), has he made up any other words that I should be aware of?
