World Cup 2022 - discussion, predictions, and thoughts

214 million Brazilians praying for Ghana, if Uruguay classifies it would face Brazil in the round of 16.
Now, on paper Brazil shouldn’t have much trouble with Uruguay, but this is Football and the Shadow of the Maracaná is dark and omninous…

Well, I as a neutral observer would be very excited about that outcome and that game.

South Korea only needs one goal at this point, correct? Korea winning 2-1 and Uruguay 2-0 would but both of them on 4 points and zero goal differential, but Korea with more goals scored?

Uruguay should be a man down. This is a bad miss in the era of VAR.

As a not-so-neutral observer I would be very excited about that outcome, that game, and potential upsets or injuries…

That surely hurt, but I think it was unintentional.

There’s not even a foul there.

That is very clearly intentional.

Korea scores and now Uruguay is out, what an horrible result.

Uruguay still has 8 minutes to score.

LOL, Cavani stepping in front of the defender and going down.

Trying to follow from work. Did Korea make it? I see they won and Uruguay is about to win 2-0.

Depends how this game ends.

Might be easier to just look at the table?

Who was criticising this format earlier in this thread? Another edge of the seat final set of matches.

And Korea goes through, some here in Argentina will be happy, most, like me, will be sad.

SoKo through over Uruguay on goals scored.

End of the careers for two of the best strikers of this generation.

Wanted Uruguay to go through, but that post-match screaming at the refs makes me glad they’re out. The one sub sub jabbing his finger in the assistant’s face should have been sent off (for what good it does at that point).

Yet again a missed penalty kick is a turning point in a Ghana Uruguay game. :frowning: :slightly_frowning_face:

I enjoyed the quality of the Korea-Portugal game. I thought Uruguay might be an outside contender and feel sympathy for them.

Didn’t get to see the Spain and Germany games yesterday, but the former losing to Japan somewhat surprised me.

Will this WC lead to long term changes in the balance of international soccer or will like KoreaJapan 2002, it will prove to be temporary.

US Soccer announces that Pulisic has been cleared to play tomorrow versus Netherlands.
