World Cup withdrawl thread....

Its over. It came to an end.

*but I still need more… *

Its over a month until the start of the Scottish League and the English Premier League.

I’m used to getting my fix of live football everyday now.

What on earth can I watch?

The kids in the park just dont play competitively enough for me, regardless of how loud I shout at them.

I dont have Eurosport anymore, upon which I used to watch third division belgian football at 4a.m. just after the tractor pulling.

I need my fix.

/me kicks a virtual ball around.
Who’s up for a game of three and in?

<twitch, tic, shake>

I’ve pulled a few horrors in my time but never a tractor. What were you drinking ?

</twitch, tic, shake>

I think she was built like a Massey - Ferguson… hey, I had the Guinness Goggles on. you can’t see anything.

Hey Twisty. I know what you mean. For a month, I could get up long before I was supposed to and see the greatest game. I woke up this mornin’… and nothin’. Just some highlights on ESPN.

Bye the bye… I was on vacation last week and missed the last rounds on the predictions… did Obiwan win?..have you published the final tally?

Thanks,

Dave

Obiwan won, Ruadh came second…
I’m just tallying up the scoreboard now.

There’s always the Tour de France, and Wimbledon.

Yeah, I know, it’s not footy. Doesn TRT (Turkish channel) air amateur league matches from the Iraqui border area after 3 AM? I caught quite a thrilling derby last night. FC Goat Herders narrowly beat Baklava United 4-3, with Hasan Sugar ironically scoring the winning goal into his own net, in the 93rd minute.

There were protests about poor timekeeping, but the ref could not be convinced that his hourglass was off.

Quite exciting, really.

Yep, those Iraqui border games can be quite exciting. Last one I saw there were three amputations (landmines) and two sniper victims.

Ended 0 -0, with a contoversial penalty decision towards the end.

TRT?

Waqsn’t that the great channel with the Turksploitation movie we watched at Amsterdope?

I’ve taken to cheering on subbuteo games between my nephews.

God, you silly non-Americans.

For God’s sake! It’s the stretch drive of the BASEBALL SEASON!

Welcome to the feeling I have every year around April 5th.

The only basing we do 'round these parts is hardly legal, Jonathan.

Twisty, yup, that’s the station! Hours of entertainment for all ages.

Maybe MLS (the American league, which plays through the summer) can capitalize on this withdrawl somehow. Sure, they don’t (really) televise the games here, but perhaps they can export to other countries. There are quite a few ex-nationals of other countries anyway, although nothing on the scale of the old NASL.

Hah.

In a masterstroke I went out and bought a Playstation 2, Medal of Honour, Grand Theft Auto 3 and LMA Manager 2002 ready for the end of the cup. I now have calloused thumbs, a permanently annoyed girlfriend but at least I’m occupied!

I’m after a copy of Pro Evolution Soccer myself, what am I supposed to watch on the telly?

I’m already looking to check out the J-league schedule and keep my eyes on the various cable networks carrying various football leagues.

I’m going out to buy a new PS2 game today, but I have decided to stay away from the sporting titles, as they can get tiresome after a while.

I already have MGS2, GTA3, and a few other great games, but have finished them all.

Any good platformers about that arent Final Fantasy?

Dunno. I’m not one for platform games. GTA3 is top notch, but you’ve got that already. Medal of Honour is brilliant if lacking a two-player option. LMA Manager is a footie management one, and seems fairly decent.

Austrian Bundesliga coming up next week on Premiere in Germany, if that helps anyone else.

But am I seriously thinking about watching any of it?

Only just bought my PS2, so I’m a bit light on games at the minute. Playing the Half-Life conversion which is pretty tasty I have to say. I’m not sure about management games myself, is there much game action Crusoe or is it mostly statistical management with a 3d interface?

Isn’t this the period of time we had in mind when we taped all those WC '02 games? So that we could re-watch them and get all the thrills again? Not to mention diving into the archive of '98 '94 '90 and '86 great games?
