UNESCO’s prestigious list is as follows in the United States, how many have you been to?
I have toured Jefferson’s Monticello, Independence Hall in Philadelphia and drove through the great Smokey Mountains.
The list is meant to be sites that must be preserved at all cost, if lost, it would be tragic to culture, etc. I am amazed why the White House is not on it?
Independence Hall is one of my favorite places I have ever visited. To stand in the actual room where they drafted and signed the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution was just awesome. The chair on display at the head of the desk George Washington sat in as President of the Constitutional convention is the original.
Independence Hall
Statue of Liberty
Olympic National Park
Redwood National and State Parks
Yellowstone National Park
Yosemite National Park
Screwed up by taking the wrong damn highway and missing the Everglades:smack:. I’m thinking I’ll go back there. The Grand Canyon should be on that list.
Don’t feel like typing all of them. But I’m only missing a couple from the lower 48. Are you even allowed to visit the Pueblo de Taos, I was under the impression that it was still in use as a community center. (Although I might be wrong and you might be able to visit parts of it.) If you count just being within a block or so of it, then I’ve been to 11
For the US: Independence Hall, seen Ms Libby (haven’t actually been to her island), Everglades. When I worked in Philadelphia, I worked with my back to Independence Hall…
For Spain I’m missing: Las Médulas, Salamanca, Ávila, Sierra Verde, La Laguna, Garajonay, El Teide and Ibiza. So basically the Canary Islands, Ibiza and a handful of spots in the NW… maybe I’ll solve it in a couple of vacations, I’ve long wanted to go to the Canary Islands and my BFF lives in Tenerife.
